I am looking for something that whitens teeth that isn't so toxic, any ideas?

Pam ~ I don't know any of your circumstances, but baking soda and salt works. It takes awhile.

I am sure you will receive some other opinions.

You mean as a daily toothpaste or tooth whitener strips?

i guess i didn't make my post real clear sorry, I have been looking at all the whiteing things in the store and just wondered if anybody had any method that is used for whitening teeth that can be made at home and not have as much chemicals in it, more of a user friendly mixture.Hope this makes clearer lol.

My dentist suggested Crest White strips as one of the safest home treatments, and with the most consistant amounts of whitener (peroxide gel?)in each unit.
The packaging is overkill, but what to do?

He also suggested using a set of the strips for a full hour/once a day instead of two sets of strips for a half hour/twice a day (as per Crest directions). This makes them last twice as long or you use half as many. I found Sam's Club had the best price on the large box.

The mild sensitivity is temporary while you use them daily, and a toothpaste like Sensodine cures that. The strips work really well and I think is safe for use once a year or so.

I just asked my husband who is a dentist and he said there really isnt anything that you can mix at home that will work,worth the time or effort. Crest white strips used at home or a bleaching kit made by a dentist which I dont think is worth the cost are your best bet. Staying away from staining type foods,coffee,tea,berries etc and of course brushing and flossing are your best bets.
