We have central heat/air. The furnace burners come on but the fan comes on and then off about every 30 to 60 seconds. The filter is new. What could be causing the fan to cycle on and off so often?

Sounds like a problem with the control panel and probably not a DIY fix. Short term you could try putting the fan on manual control where it runs all the time. It might be time for a service call.

Limit switches, and sensors can be the problem... boards too...

But you need to give your tech a call ... the part may still be under warranty .. always ask!!!

    ut! Oh!
We had a similar problem this past year. I was out of town but I remember this problem well as our electric bill went out the roof.

Our thermostat went out Eek Did not sound like a big problem to me as my dh called the company to come out and check the a/c they replaced the thermostat with a digital. BTW I love digital. Cost $100.00 for the thermostat and $80.00 labor.

We had talked about changing to a digital before the problem so the added cost of the flucuating temp. made for a costly bill.

I made an adjustment to the fan limit switch and seems to be working now. Will have to give it a day to be sure. May try to upgrade my thermostat if I still encounter any problems. Can do that myself and avoid labor costs but if the problem persists past that I might have to pay-the-man to come out on a service call.

    Good idea thunderhead Smile

Please don't tell my dh but he Eek

Is not mechanically inclined, I "yell" don't Eektouch the electrical,
He does not like to paint, patch, repair, etc.

Replacing a thermostat is easy but I " thank you know who" that he had a professional come out. Big Grin to do the job.

I love him lots but most of the work I have done on our home is when he goes out of town fishing for a few days. Big Grin Smile Smile

The box stores have some nice touch screens... very easy ... wires are color coded... I have the large screened ( blind as a bat) honeywells... you can take them to you chair & program ( system continues to operate)... they have features that remind you to change filfers, uv light, temp in & out & humidity... that model is through the supply houses but it is nice...read through www.yourhome.honeywell.com for info...

Lights out, I adore you Big Grin

I'm also VERY fond of the approach that I'd rather pay someone to do something and let DH relax and enjoy the free time that he has and do the things he really likes.
