I'd been hoping for a program about lighting for a very long time. When it finally aired, I missed it!

Did anyone here see it? I was really hoping for a good explanation of energy conserving lights and what is best to use where.

I know it will be aired again. It is worth watching from an energy conservation perspective?

    HGTV Big Grin

However, it appears that it isn't scheduled to air again any time soon so planning whether or not to watch it may be a moot point!

Smile I know TMS, we have experienced the same anguish, we watch a show and then it never comes on again. Or the show is in 3 parts but we have not seen the 1st. part or the 2nd.

Hey! I think that is the ploy of HGTV to keep you watching. Wink Big Grin Smile

Doubt,it is a moot point, it just means that we have to be in the right place at the right time to watch the show.

I have to the link to HGTV's page of videos for the 3 episodes so you can watch them on your computer.

I am in middle of something else so I will have to check to make sure it works after I post.

Ok I checked it gives you all the videos for Light It Up show. The video with info on energy saving light bulbs in on the bottom right of the page.

Thank so much for that link ST.

I was able to watch the video on the energy saving bulbs and picked up some info. When time permits, I'm going to go back and watch the other videos to see if anything is mentioned.

I've always had a really hard time with fluorescent bulbs. I know that there are a lot of different ones available now but when I look at the displays in the stores I just get massively confused.

I was also glad to hear in the clip that a lot of new lighting developments are coming with LEDs.

All in all, very useful info and I thank you!

Smile I got a chance to go back and read more today. Lots of talk about mercury in CFL's but after reading this I feel using CFL's will benefit us more in saving energy not just on our bills but just as much for our planet.

    Quote/ WORD ABOUT MERCURY
All compact fluorescents contain trace amounts of mercury, a harmful substance. Although the bulbs contain far less mercury than other household items, care needs to be taken to prevent breakage. Also, when CFLs burn out, they should be recycled. To find the closest recycling center near you/Quote visit/www.lamprecycle.org

That reminds me, I still have not gone back to Home Depot to check to see about replacing my Halogen Lights.

Smile What did I do with that list I had. Smile Yes, I have gone back to Home Depot but forgot about my list. Big Grin

Here is the site for recycling:

Trivia I ran across some time ago - The mercury in a fluorescent light is less than the mercury that would be released by burning coal to get that same amount of light from a conventional bulb. So the environment comes out ahead.

WalMart has a remarkable selection of fluorescent bulbs. They even have bulbs with the tiny bases you need in a chandalier.
