OK so it's not an enviro thread per se, but i just got back from a wonderful trip to Ecuador & the Galapagos Island! It was the trip of a lifetime!
The enviro aspect? Ecuador's a pretty green country (literally & figuratively), esp on the islands where conservation is soooo important. The ship (which carried a total of 19 people including crew) we traveled on was also very eco-friendly. They used desalinated water for bathing & drinking. And they had a holding tank for the toilets that contained sea water. Flush the toilets in the dark & you can see plankton glowing! LOL strange, but true! The ship also provided homemade biodegradable soap for us to use. There were recycling cans everywhere. We were asked to travel on the islands responsibly and we wholeheartedly obeyed. How could you not? An amazing experience.
If you have time to kill, have a look at my pics on the link below. cheers!
Oh Kitty...you lucky, lucky cat....will have to check out your photos later but glad to see you back...wondered where you went!!!! Nice to hear green travel andventures....
hi, i just thought it was slightly "off topic" so i posted it that way there are so many boats to the galapagos to choose from that i thought a small boat would have a smaller impact, plus i hate being herded like cattle on vacation. i would say most of the boats out there are eco-friendly, you just have to do the research to see what will work best for you.
kittyh the pics are magnif. I have a hard time getting them to load but did see them in the smaller version. I will keep trying. Wow, this was a trip of a lifetime.
