Call your local lighting store and see if they carry Satco bulbs. I work for a lighting store and that's the brand we buy. They have never failed to serve us well and we sell several hundred lightbulbs a month, incand and CFL. The CFLs run around $8 each, though if you get the 4 packs, it's significantly less per bulb.

I have a night light like this. It's not LED but I really like the light it puts out. it's soft and green and lights the bathroom up plenty without bothering your eyes or causing your vision to adjust. I've had it for a couple years now.

We shall see...tonight! Big Grin I will be off the computer alot in the next few weeks for puter repair and yardwork...thought they could take my puter today but not til tomorrow.
....so will get back to you. I also bought 2 that have an adjustable brightness lever which were 8.97 each and I figured I would see how the others did first. Looks like they have 3 little lights under the textured 1 inch circle....

GA and TMS, I have just a few minutes left on the computer, I am at the library in Tx. Velvet is going to send the card from all of us to the Green Home. I had a death in the family so I am here until at least the end of the month. My brother owned a condo and rented it out. The couple decided they want to buy it so we have done some updating. Outdoor lights have been changed to LED'S. Lots of changes so they could afford to buy the condo each change being green except for the carpet. New energy efficient appliances. It was hard for them to get the loan until we made the upgrades bringing the ratio to what they can pay. This couple has a DS child and certainly deserve to keep this place their home.

Please give, Velv, support on mailing the card.
I certainly appreciate her taking up my responsibilities during this time.
    Thanks Kathy

I've been wondering about the 3-way lite bulbs. I replaced one of ours, and do not like the way it operates. It flickers, and I thought the bulb was lose - dag, that base was hot!! And they are expensive! Can you use, say, a 75 watt bulb in a 3-way lamp? I have very few lamps that are not 3-way.

OK so we tried the nightlights and they WERE quite bright probably like those that toomuch encountered in hotel room, not that I minded that in the bathrooms but my children kept looking at them and having one very intense point of light right about their eye level probably is not a super idea, think I will put these where plugs are more by the floor as bathrooms are midway up wall. I switched them out to the blue led night lights which do not look as sturdy but a much softer light given off with blue tint...much like the moon one Rachel mentioned. Cool

Interesting GA. Thanks for the update. It DOES sound like these would be great for floor level nightlighting (say a hall way or something) and like they have really great promise for bathroom vanity and kitchen lighting.

I had thought the hotel ones may have seemed overly bright due to the number of leds and the placement (RIGHT at eye level). It sounds more like these are just incredibly BRIGHT little bulbs. Wink

What brand CFL do you recommend?
We paid $10 apiece for four Sylvania (made in China) CFL bulbs. Three lasted less than one year. That's $30 shot.
Needless to say, we're using incandescent now.
We have one CFL 3-way remaining. It's only burning on 75 because the others burned out long ago.
I understand US standards are so high on these bulbs that most cheaper ones are made elsewhere to lower standards.
Anyone have more information on that?
We learned this from an appliance repairperson who was also ticked off on his loss on the bulbs.
Tip: Keep the store receipt AND the bulb container.

I'm so disgusted with this happening to me too. I refuse to buy another one. On sale or not, I feel like I've been sold a bill of goods when the incandescents I have work for two to three times longer than any CFL I previously owned before it blew up.
