Agents, a new statewide MLS is coming to NC,SC,GA,&FL. Please check out this website for information on how we can change the Real Estate industry together: fundable.com/atlas
We are "bothering" because we think that since we are licensed to do business throughout the entire state, then we ought to be able to access MLS data throughout the entire state, without being required to join each local board. Or any board for that matter. We also think that we can do it for a lot cheaper than what you are paying now! We feel that the current system is too close to being a monopoly for comfort.
It was not directed at you - but at HGTV moderators. It does us no good to report posters like you because they quit moderating the boards - so have at it.
Talk about annoying! OP, you are defeating your purpose (whatever that might be) by taking up space on these message boards to tout your goal.
Please quit. It is obnoxious and it will boomerang ~ none of us wish to be subjected to your pol-itical goals and hope you will just leave us alone. PS, I, too, have "reported" your thread.
I am sorry if you perceive me to be obnoxious. I am an agent, who posted honestly to the real estate discussion board, something that I thought that other agents may be interested in. My intent is to simply spread the word to other agents who may interested in this. I'm sorry, I truly don't see how I am subjecting you to anything. If you are not interested, please ignore it. It's not a scam or anything like it. This is just an idea that I wanted to share. I thought that is what message boards are for!
I am old school - I don't think too highly of a statewide MLS. It is all I can do to conduct my business knowledgeably and ethically in my own home base.
We have enough part time, just relocated to the area agents to cause problems, now bring in agents from Greenville and Columbia who have no clue about my area? Just because you can type Myrtle Beach into a GPS does not make a person a knowledgeable source for real estate. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Charming,
Thanks for the discussion! I really do understand your concerns. As a matter of fact, that is part of my point. Big brokerages take a big cut of our commissions while hiring less qualified, even part time, agents to compete with us, just to collect more dollars. Every market out there has too many agents, but the associations solicit even more, just to collect dues, product, and education dollars. That's who we are paying to represent us? I can't say that ATLAS will lessen our competition from other agents, but I can say that it offers a more even playing field. Competition is also good for weeding out the dead wood. I really think that good honest agents, such as yourself, will benefit.
Agent Fedup, My initial post above was based on my perception from your thread topic that you were attempting to sell us something by attaching the website link. However, having read the follow-up posts, I have changed my mind.
It seems as if you have a legitimate topic of discussion which does belong on a real estate message board although, since I am not an agent, I really don't have a position either way.
So discuss away! I apologize for jumping to a conclusion and reporting what appears to be a sincere effort on your part in starting a topic that may very well be of interest to the many agents who post here.
Thank you for you open mindedness and fairness. Other agents may agree or disagree with me, but either way, I am eager to hear their comments! Thank you again for taking the time to reply.
