So last night I turned on the TV, HGTV, of course, and Love It or List It was on so I had to change channels. Went to QVC where they were showing food/meat. They had a ham, a pork roast, prime rib.
I then went online to QVC to have a closer look and I ended up ordering a prime rib/ham combination package, a filet package, and a steak hamburger package. All of these items seemed to have good reviews. They were all from Kansas City steaks (I think that's the name).
I have ordered in the past (long tme ago) from Omaha steaks and honestly, everything I ordered had sort of a funny taste to it with the exception of the precooked bacon. I haven't ordered from them now in a long time and just don't want to because of the funny taste (it wasn't a spice tase--the meat had an odd taste).
So has anyone ordered from the Kansas City steak place or ordered any other food from QVC?
My DH ordered from thm this fall...steaks and burgers. It was fair at best. Unfortunately we will not order from them again. Hopefully you will have better items.
I should say that the order was from Kansas City Steaks, not QVC.

First, I've never ordered from Kansas City or QVC, but I have received as gifts from Omaha, and I agree with you, IMO they were just mediocre at BEST and at worst, they were just plain awful, tenderloins had all sorts of ligaments, tendons, whatever and were very tough, and flavorless, I will never order from them again. Let us know how you like your order Charcoalsmom. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Spanish Revival,
CCM, Well, you bought it and you got it ~ at least when it is delivered. Had you asked me before you called, I would have said ~ DON'T DO IT!
But you did and its done so make the best of it ~ it's good meat but, maybe, not the PRIME it touts itself to be. So, schedule a "kids' night out for the hamburger - thinking BBQ on the back porch/yard for this. Filet mignon is always a special cut ~ think you and your DH might enjoy it ~ and who doesn't love a great Prime Rib? Buy the "Brown in an Oven" bags for it, CCM, and follow the directions!
Bottom line, think you might have been caught up in the "hype" but you can still make some very special meals with the meat you bought. Let us know how it turns out.
And for that ham? Easy answer ~ only takes some brown sugar, some pineapples plus juice and a beer or two - one to let go flat ~ you drink the other one or trade it in for a glass of white wine! Hang in there, CCM, you WILL be making some dinners your family will appreciate soon! If not, they deserve to go hungry....This message has been edited. Last edited by: Idaho Resident,
Well, now my heart is sinking. Have you ordered from them, IR? The Kansas City food? Don't think it really matters if it was through QVC or not.
CCM, You are right; it doesn't matter whether it was from QVC or Kansas City Food or Omaha Steaks. Bottom line,, you ordered, it's on its way and the meat is actually pretty good ~ maybe not the PRIME they brag about ~ but good all the same so don't let your heart sink!
Just cook each one as I suggested above ~ it really is good meat! Give it a try and let us know how it turns out!
Charcoalsmom - I have not ordered beef since I have a local butcher who cuts it fresh so I can't comment on what you've ordered.
I do hope it is good. However, if you find it substandard, but sure to write or call them and complain! You are spending good money and deserve to get what was advertised!!
Does this hat make my butt look big?
Personally would never buy over QVC or any mail order firm. I have great sources of excellent meat right in our area so would never be tempted to buy sight unseen. Never used Schwann's either.
Hope it turns out ok for you.
