Heading to Phoenix in mid march. Any tips on good restaurants (mid price range) and what area to stay? (hotel, condo rental, etc) Relative in the 101/17 area, so that's a destination.
Has anyone bid Priceline for Phoenix hotels? This message has been edited. Last edited by: nance425,
Just bid a hotel on Priceline for a hotel in Tucson, all the travel sites had it for $20o, got on Priceline for $82. Just a bit of information
We liked the Scottsdale area when we visited several times - many years ago. There are a ton of great restaurants.
Don't know how long you will be there but we really enjoyed touring the deseert botanical gardens. We also rode up into the Superstition mountains and had chili at the cafe up there. Nothing spectacular but a good day trip. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Charming,
Have 4 full days there.
Span riv: checking Priceline as we speak. Hotels are TOTALLY "out of this world" priced in Scottsdale/Phoenix area. It's spring training time. Read March is the most expensive month for hotel rates.
Charming: Botanical gardens is now on my list.
Do you remember how far Superstition mtns is?
Told DH we should have booked longer. Reasons to go back...and take some friends with us.
We stayed in Scottsdale on our visits so I'm not sure. I'll take a look see.
Also, if you wander up towards Scottsdale - the Frank Lloyd Wright's western Taliasin (sp) is there and open for tours. Check in advance for days open.
Perhaps you can check Tempe for hotels.
charming - Taliesin and Botanical Gardens are now on my list. Also, hoping to do a road trip to Sedona and a jeep tour thru the rugged terrain up there.
DS lives in North Phoenix around 101, so not far from Scottsdale. I think most of the action for us will be in SD. Do you remember where you stayed? I see they have quite a selection of hotels/resorts there. I heard March is the most expensive month for hotel rates because of spring training. This message has been edited. It was quite a few years ago and it was company paid but we loved the hotel - Camelback Inn. It is/was a Marriott property and we stayed there twice.
we also stayed in the scottsdale area...(family) but yes, spring training will be hot and heavy...checked and it's about a 2+ hour drive to flagstaff (sort of the gateway to the grand canyon)
