LinderhofJulia Child's 100th birthday
Tomorrow is Julia Child's 100th birthday -- she influenced so much about food in America and is an icon to us foodies.
Are you going to "celebrate" her birthday and how?
I am planning on making her chocolate almond cake. I've never made it before and it does look yummy -- I'll post a picture if I do!

cocokToo hot to cook, but I love that she is on the Google picture.

thatchairladyThis past Saturday, local public tv stations had "dueling" mini-marathons of some of her old show episodes.
She was one of a kind for sure!

aychihuahuaWe have been long-time fans of Julia Child since she first appeared on PBS back in the early 70's. It was a must-watch show in our home. The first cookbook I ever bought was Mastering the Art of French Cooking.
Who remembers Saturday Night Live's Dan Ackroyd as Julia Child, back in 1978? No disrespect to Meryl Streep who played Julia in the movie Julie and Julia, which I enjoyed tremendously, but Dan Ackroyd's portrayal is pitch-perfect. I understand that Mrs. Child herself was tickled pink when she saw it.
Here is the video, in case you have never seen it. (You'll have to wait a few seconds for a commercial)
