Am waiting for Frigadare to call me Monday. The store I bought it at said they would send out men to replace handle for a year! I told them NO I wonder what they will tell me Monday? I am willing to upgrade to another refrigerator.

Had to laugh because it reminded me of a refrigerator we bought new about 35 years ago. It was only about 4 months old when the whole door came off when I opened it. I think it was a Kelvinator. The oven door fell off when it was a year old and it was bought at the same time as the refrigerator. Never bought another Kelvinator appliance.

Sue, Read your warranty and insist that they take the refrigerator back to the store with them when they arrive at your house on Monday AND demand that they bring a new one back to you within 2 business days. Having to replace a handle twice within 6 months of purchase is unacceptable. Stand your ground.

That seems like a real product defect issue. I know that our Best Buy has a lemon policy, where 3 repair calls to an appliance results in your option to return it and get a replacement of that one or another different replacement appliance. Perhaps your purchase store has a similar option.

If your local store refuses to take the refrigerator back, call manufacture's corporate headquarters and kindly insist on speaking to the top guy or VP and relay your dissatisfaction re. This model's faulty handles. Corporate will go above and beyond to rectify this situation. I know first hand as I once handled a similar complaint for my senior mother (out of state) when her local retailer kept stalling to take back her under warranty refrigerator that emitted a chemical smell of unknown origin. The excuses the store fed her along with their denial that there was a smell made me furious and determined to get her a new fridge. After relaying her situation to the VP of said company via a long distance call with facts in hand, it was a matter of minutes that the man uttered, "Your mother is getting a new refrigerator." In short time the same store picked up the faulty fridge and delivered mom a new one." Btw, I mailed corporate a thank you card. So.... Skip the middlemen and voice your complaint directly to corporate with dates, times, model no. etc. at the ready and in a respectful manner and you should be satisfied in no time. Frankly, after two refrigerators with faulty handles, I would research other brands AND where I was going to purchase it. Let us know what developes.

The store called me tonight. They are contacting the mafg. to see what they want to do about it? I told them I would be willing to upgade as I don't want the same Fridge. He promised I would hear from the by the 6th. I guess I will wait and see??

Good luck and keep us posted. If they do not get back to you by the promised date, or if they do, but their offer does not satisfy you, I would call the manufacturers headquarters and insist on speaking to someone in corporate. I'd relay all the facts, names and dates pertaining to your complaint. I would never again deal with this retailer once you have a working refrigerator in hand. Do not hesitate in dealing with the retailer. You've been too kind in putting up with their nonsense. I hope this is resolved, but frankly I would not upgrade but would look into other brands and also shop elsewhere.

I hope this matter is settled to your satisfaction. The holidays is a particularly bad time of year to be having appliance problems...not that any time is a good time.

Went to the store today, ended up ordering one to fit my space. Will take 2 weeks to get here. I had to pay for it upfront, they will refund the total amount when they pick up the old fridge.Sue

Well, a bummer that you had to pay up front, but at least you'll get the money back. And hopefully you'll have a fridge with a decent handle!! Can't imagine such a thing. I'd be more than a little miffed, to say the least. www.floridafarmgirlsworld.blogspot.com Life isn't about how to survive the storm, but how to dance in the rain.

Did you stick with Fridgidare or another brand? Best of luck with your new refrigerator.

I went with GE only have a 31" opening for a refrigerator and it is really hard to find one to fit in the space. Thanks for sticking with me through this. Sue
