What is your favorite Christmas cookie that you make year after year? Mine has to be the cutout Christmas tree cookies sprinkled with green sugar. They're the first cookies I always make. I started making them when DD was small - the cutout cookies and she liked the Christmas tree cutter the best (I think it was because it is the biggest!) I sometimes cut out other shapes and I sometimes frost them but we do like the green sugar sprinkled trees the best! Martha ![]()

I don't bake any kind of cookies at all. But, I do love homemade spritz cookies and Greek kourabiedes butter cookies for the holidays. Sometimes, a kind and generous neighbor will offer me some at Christmas time.

I don't make cookies every year, but last year I made GF oatmeal cookies with dried cherries and Giada's Cornmeal-Lime cookies that were well received. One year, I made hundreds of one-bite pressed sugar cookies and decorated them. My mother still talks about that display.

I love "apricot buttons", which are small butter balls dipped in egg white, rolled in walnut pieces and then indented for a thick apricot filling. They look like buttons. They bring back Christmas memories for me. I also love Spritz, in fact I just got a new press last year.

For me it is gingerbread men. For my husband it is lemon spritz. Then each of our 4 children have a favorite Christmas cookie:jam thumbprint, frosted cutout sugar, cranberry and white chocolate chip, date filled brown sugar. So now that my children are grown and gone, I make gingerbread men, and lemon spritz, and then make the favorite of any child who will be coming home for Christmas. I never stray from those 6 varieties.

Though I don't make all of these every Christmas, I do have my favorites... GERMAN SOUR CREAM TWISTS (actually a pastry because yeast is an ingredient). You can google this recipe, but remember...no sugar IN the dough. These are shaped like horseshoes and sugar is used only when folding the dough multiple times. I shape them into candy canes and use red sugar before shaping them. PIZZELLES (various flavors) RAISIN BRANDY LOGS FROSTED ITALIAN ANGELETTI WILLIAM SANOMA MESSAGE SUGAR COOKIES (These are sugar cookies that can be colored and feature fun sayings ex. FA LA LA, HO HO HO, JUST FOR SANTA, NOEL, JOY, etc. personalized). This message has been edited. Last edited by: Froo Froo,

Laughing at myself! Duh! I just googled "who is GF in the cooking world?" because I thought it was a person -- like Guy Fieri. From my search I am now assuming it is gluten free -- right?

This would be a difficult question for DH to answer as he would say "all of them!". For me, it's biscotti, especially if dipped in chocolate. They bring back great memories.

I'm so sorry. I should know better than to use abbreviations. I was just being too lazy to type out gluten-free.

Mine used always to be from Irma Rombach's "Joy of Cooking" starting with rich roll cookies, cut into many shapes. Almond crescent cookies and meringue drop cookies. Back in my party giving days I made many different Christmas cookies. Now I can't remember the last time I baked cookies!
