I'm planning a surprise 75th B-day party event. My friend that is hosting this party has said she thought a party favor would be a nice gesture.
She is already paying for a very nice meal for apprx 30 people and also providing entertainment and cake for the event.
The table centerpieces are an "asian" inspired theme with orchids (silk) and candles. I was considering doing small 1/2 pint chinese take out boxes and putting 2 fortune cookies in each box. I'm just not sure if this will go along with the elegant look at the tables I'm going for, I don't want the tables to be too busy or cluttered.
The centerpieces are medium size gray river rocks piled up with a votive candle in the middle and silk orchids (flower part only) wedged in the rock here and there and then more votive candles scattered about the rest of the round table.
Each table seats 6 people, I will also have the table tents for arranged seating at each place.
Do you all feel I should go with the favor idea of the boxes and 2 fortune cookies? If I do this, should I get the personalized fortune cookies or should I just purchase them at a Oriental market?
The venue for the evening is a steak/seafood restuarnt but the Birthday girl loves Asian decor.
Thanks for any input or suggestions!

I think that's a great idea. If you want them to be a little more fancy - here's a link for colored and/or decorated boxes:

You could also add a pretty ribbon to match - the really thin ones that can be curled...

I would just go with the cookies from your market, too.

Have fun! Fran

I LOVE that idea! It is really cute.

A friend was giving a 50th anniversary party for her parents and wanted something unusual for the tables... I said, it's a golden anniversary, put a goldfish swimming in a bowl on each table... she did... and no one got it. Frown

But I like the fortune cookies, it's like wishing all the guests good fortune and I'd go with store-bought, not personal fortunes. leave that part to Confucious!
