When was the last time...
You went out for dinner, and what did you order!!!? Do you order appetizers, entrees and dessert? (Not talking Mc D's here <3! )

Went to Applebees last weekend, which reminded me why I seldom go there. Anyhow, I'd say 98% of the time we go out we don't get the apps, alcohol beverages(hubby doesn't drink anyhow)or dessert. We're planning a dinner at a nice restaurant at the end of June (my B-day and our anniversary) and I will get apps, a really good fruitini, and entree, but still no dessert. I do love my sweets though.

Last Thursday, we went to Olive Garden, DS had given me a gift card for Mother's Day. No appetizers, I had Gorgonzola steak with fettuccine and boy it was fantastic. Couldn't finish it all. We ordered a dessert to take home, little doughnut pillows with chocolate sauce, also wonderful.

We went out for a good hamburger last week at a local joint.
As for a real "out to dinner", we only order appetizers if there's a group of us to share them. I'll usually have a glass of wine. DH may have a beer, or he may not. If we order a dessert at all, we share it. Sometimes even three or four will share the same dessert, cause they can be huge.

We eat out once a week, usually for lunch but could be "dinner" at the local pizzaria.

For my b.d. I want to go to a very nice local restaurant. Usually out of our price range but for this time its o.k.

We rarely get anything to drink or dessert or appetizers unless we are with DD and her family. They eat more than we do.

I can't see the original post -- just a big picture but I think it has to do with eating out and what you order?

We live in a small town and our choices are always limited -- the greasy hamburger place, the chicken place but . . .

last week we did go to the Thai Place in the town 20 miles east of us for a birthday -- there were drinks (but I didn't have any) and appetizers (for the "host" bought them) and there WAS dessert but it was a boughten brought cake and so we passed.

Last night we ate at our event restaurant -- the price of dinner includes appetizers and dessert -- we did have a glass of wine and because we're watching sweets we only had a bite each. (We did have a great dinner -- scallops wrapped in bacon; chopped salad; salmon en croute with potatoes and broccoli and cheesecake for dessert)

But that is unusual for us -- twice in one week. We do eat out when we travel -- that is when we do most of our dining out.

It is much cheaper to eat at home (and we never order steaks OUT) and you can control sugar and salt in your food as well.

And besides I like to cook so we eat well -- mostly fresh and mostly from scratch.

Off to make a blueberry pie for dessert tonight!
(with fresh local blueberries!)

Day before yesterday. Spur of the moment with my brother and his family. Lunch at Blaine's Grill & Bar in Gatlinburg, TN. It was my first time there.

http://blainesgatlinburg.com/

The first time I visit a new restaurant, I usually order something I'm familiar with, to compare. If I return again, I'll order something I'm not familiar with.

Since this was my first time there, I just ordered the open-face roast beef plate. No alcohol, no dessert. My brother ordered some cheese appetizers, and they were quite yummy.

With so many restaurants in both Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, I see no need to go back. I'd rather try someplace new. Again.

If I have time, I like to go out at least a couple of times a week--at lunch--to someplace new. Since it's usually just me, the bill isn't THAT huge. It's not something The Husband enjoys, so we have a deal--I go without him, during lunch.

Prices are more affordable at lunch, and I can take my time.

I remember because it was Pres*dent's Day. We did order an appetizer and he had wine with his dinner. I had a cappuccino after dinner. I rarely go out to a restaurant because I'd much rather host friends at my home. We can be loud and linger over our meal, not an option in most restaurants.

We do dine out frequently. The most recent fine dining was a la carte menu and some chose to add alcoholic beverage, salad and/or dessert. All was fabulous. Dinner for 9 under $500.

I know Linderhof... My Avatar is huge and I've gone into my profile and it doesn't let me change anything, so I guess I'm stuck with it until this website develops a way to fix this Frown Believe me.. I never wanted to be that BIG!

This is really strange, Spanish Revival. If you look under the "Strawberries in Syrup" there, you have a post with the old avitar, not the picture. Weird, indeed.

We also have limited choices in a small town.
We go out every Sunday to our favorite local Mexican restaurant, but other than that, we only eat out when we travel.
Once in a while we pick up take out Chinese or order pizza if we're pressed for time, but that's only every 3-4 months.

Like everyone else, Spanish Revival, all I am seeing is a hugely distorted photograph AND no question but think I can figure your inquiry out from the responses...

Is the question "when was the last time you ate out?" Well, here it is basically all or nothing - I like to cook (and DH thinks I do it better than any restaurants around) BUT, when we do eat out, we go all out! Usually when we are traveling....

Drinks, appetizers, main entree with wine and deserts - in a very nice restaurant - usually costs us @ $200 plus tips. Needless to say, we don't do this very often. On the basic side? Can't remember the last time someone else cooked a meal for me! But, DH has started bringing home a "quick" Two-Item Chinese menu take-out for me since his civic organization has switched their weekly meetings to that place.

Have to say, I have been enjoying their Crab Rangoon and Pork Fried Rice (with the noodles on the side) over the last three weeks...

Oh, and, maybe twice a year, we get take-out from a pizza place. Last one was Papa Murphy's with the Mediterrean Special - have to admit that I don't have those ingredients readily available (especially the spices, herbs and feta cheese) so it's worth paying for it! But only twice a year!

I know, I don't know why it's like that... it looks like a lot of other Avatars are big, but mine is HUGE!!!! I've tried to get in touch with HGTV monitoring system, no one has gotten back. It's inappropriate and I don't like it but I don't have control over it, I can't even go into my own profile and fix it. Oh well, that's life, not a big deal, just annoying Smile !!
