Had to get my fix of bargain hunting today. It's not cold but rainy here in NJ, so no yard sales and season is seriously winding down anyway.

Stopped at 2 thrift stores. At Good Will, there's a BIG OLD yellow KA stand mixer. It WORKS and has paddle, dough hook and whisk included. I already have the basic KA in white. This "vintage" mixer has the bowl that goes up and down with a lever.

It's priced at $39.99. GW has 50% off items posted by the color of the price tag. I'm TORN!! $40 is probably a great price but I really don't NEED another "big mother mixer" as my SIL calls hers. I don't use mine a lot but love it. Do have room to store one or the other, even if in garage.

Would YOU buy it, if you were me?!? Someone on another site said I should go get it NOW!! If it's there tomorrow, I just might do that. It looks like it's been well-used. IF I do get it, gonna trick it out... spray paint it flat black and do FLAMES on the side like AB's on Good Eats.

Silly, huh!?!

I'd look to see size on it also... sometimes you need the larger ones.. I like to do breads so I bought the 600watt one several yrsa ago... love it...when the girls were in college I got each the 4.5 qy tilt...they'll tell you that was the nicest thing I've done for them (???).. maybe I need to make a list of nice things for them to refer back to...LOL...

I always smile when we see skylers kitchen with her pink mixer...

I'd always wondered about AB's.. then I saw the decals on EBay...

Just got back from second trip to GW... bought the mixer. Needs some cosmetic sprucing up... no rust, just expected nicks/scratches. It's yellow-ish... not from age. Not retro enough to be "harvest gold". Doesn't have tilt top and does have larger bowl.

lucky you! I finally broke down and bought a new one @ BB&B last weekend. I was thrilled that I was able to use the 20% off coupon, so thought I got a deal. Anyway, I think you were wise to go back and get it.

Oldmandy... pretty sure you can find attachments on Ebay. Whisk and things on this new find are bigger than other KA... whisk a little longer cuz bowl is deeper... BUT where they attach is the same size. The model# is K5-A. Went to KA website and couldn't find anything on it.

Oldmandy, when I got mine as a gift, there was a brochure with a list of all the attachments that could be purchased...I am sure you can make a direct purchase from KA if you can't find what you want on ebay.

Yes, you can buy the attachments from KA site for old models. I just purchased a new paddle for my old KA mixer. It cost me $14.99 plus $6.95 shipping. But, it beat buying a new model.

I love my KA- I don't use it nearly as often as I probably should, but I love having it on the counter in the kitchen so people THINK I am a great baker LOL... besides it is pink, and makes such an ohh lala statement. Big Grin

Great deal. I don't think those machines ever wear out so you won't regret buying it. Arian

I always look at ebay to see what is out there.. I've bought extra bowls through KA's on line outlet store... about 50% off.. the stock changes so you have to just keep checking...

We want to see this when it's all dressed up... like I said the decals are on ebay too..
