We strive to have tomatoes by the Fourth of July -- and they come slowly at first and then like a red tide.

But with our mild winter and wonderful spring, Saturday at the Farmer's Market, one of our vendors had tomatoes.

The first tomato is always ritually made into a sandwich -- a bacon and tomato (no L at Linderhof) -- and summertime and fresh tomato time is the ONLY time we have bacon and tomato sandwiches.

And the first one is especially good -- especially with a big tall glass of icy tea!

And I cannot believe that I had a bacon and tomato on JUNE 2 -- not JULY 2 but JUNE 2!!!! That is a red letter day for sure!

We like a good bacon and the bread is a good whole wheat from a small bakery about 20 miles form here. The mayo is Hellman's -- no Miracle Whip on this sandwich for us!

Good for you! I was given some green tomatoes last month for fried green tomatoes. They were so good!

It is -- I was as happy (well, perhaps, almost) as if I had gotten a visit from those Publisher Clearinghouse people!
