Anyone have any specific 'food traditions'? I have one! Whenever we come in from SHOVELING SNOW (in the wintertime obviously!) we always have Hot Chocolate w/mini marshmallows afterwards. Reminds me, we gotta go buy some more Hot Chocolate and bags of Mini Marshmallows this weekend!! Do ya'll have any food traditions?!!

Lots -- each holiday has its own food traditions (including Halloween which is chili and pumpkin pie).

Often, if we have a big Sunday Lunch, we'll have popcorn in the evening and call it dinner -- it's not an always tradition but an often one.

When we used to cut our own Christmas tree, we would take thermos of hot choc. to drink on the way home

At Christmas, Mama would make what we called an Icebox Fruitcake. It was made with crushed graham crackers, raisins, chopped pecans, coconut, chopped maraschino cherries and sweetened condensed milk. All mixed together and then pressed into a 9x13 dish lined with wax paper.

I ate it, of course, but it wasn't my favorite. My brother loves it however, and he still makes them at Christmas. In fact, for the last several years before Mama died, he'd go over to her house and make one for her too, as she couldn't do it any more.

Warmed eggnog with a splash of rum & nutmeg, on New Years Eve.

My ancestors were Scandinavian and there were many ethnic foods that were served only at Christmas and I grew up with those traditional foods. Lutefisk, lefse, Julekake, rollepolse, meatballs, sweet cream rømmegrøt, and of course lots of cookies! Our family traditions have changed and I now make tortiere for Christmas Eve dinner.

Many Friday evenings we've had appies and drinks for dinner. Easy to make at the end of a work week.

I dunno if its "food" but the first real snowfall of the year I make a big pan of snow icecream.. I love that stuff. the kids are thrilled with it too.

For New Years day dinner... ALWAYS pork and sauerkraut! Grandmother always said for good luck. Cooking for 1, so have 2 BIG chops. Will probably do them tomorrow and pick at them into New Years day!?!

WISH I knew how to make perogies... would be perfect with P&S! Thinking of trying hand at spaetzle... seems like probably non-fail!?!

Perogies are not hard to make, but I have also bought pre-made, frozen ones that were really pretty good. They were potato and cheese filled as I recall, (thawed, pan fried in a little butter and served with sour cream as a garnish)

Yes, pork and kraut here, too!!!! Yum!!!! Of course mashed potatoes are served with it.
