Something I was reading last night suggested that you have a list of 3 foods that are:
    1) easy to prepare
    2) nutritious
    3) comfort/feel good/satisfying foods

I came up with a few items but in all honesty, my list was pretty boring.

Please help me with your suggestions. What would be on your list?

We love biscuit sandwiches for breakfast in the morning. I make two apiece for us.

Meat, eggs, cheese all melted in a crispy crusted biscuit. Hot coffee, jam or jelly, fruit or juice. Yum Arian

It's so easy to vary this breakfast by changing the ingredients. DH loves this.

    1. baked potato, preferably oven, micro in a pinch

    2. banana and peanut butter sandwich, whole wheat bread.

    3. coffee. Oh wait, scratch that, there isn't much nutrition in coffee.

    3. brownies. Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

    Big Grin Melbourne.

Item 3A for me is like putting oxygen on a list. I REQUIRE coffee. Wink I'm really liking 3B as well. Could keep them in the freezer for the easy factor!

Hadn't thought of 1 or 2 so thank you for those!

    My list was:
    1. Oatmeal (easy in the micro)
    2. Celery w/ cheese or peanut butter
    3. Apple w/ a slice of cheese

Love your items too Arian. Do you keep biscuits in the freezer or make them fresh for that?

1 oat meal (I like the steel cut)
    2. cinamon gram crackers and milk
    3. sun flowr or pumpkin seeds.

i know the other 2 aren't things you prepare but i do enjoy snacking on them and gotta admit, grabbing a bag of seeds is pretty easy Wink

This isn't a list, but the most nutritional thing I have for a snack or pick me up is a glass of carrot juice. Most people say, "yuck", but I feel better when I drink this as opposed to say cola, tea, or even some fruit juices. And I know I am getting nutrition, and a couple of servings of those beta carotene veggies I don't seem to eat enough of!

Broccoli cheese soup - not really fast but easy, healthy, and one of my fav comfort foods. I cook broccoli and small diced potato, saute onion, make cheese sauce, combine them all.

We love breakfast biscuits also (when we weren't dieting!) - first had them from Tim Hortons, but have made them from scratch at home also. Easier if we have leftover baking powder biscuits, just use bacon, scrambled egg, and cheese.

My usual "snack" these days is a few almonds or pecans.

I spend one day a week to pre-package goodies.

    1. Baggies of mixed fresh veggies. The dip is homemade and low/no fat in those little plastic storage cups.

    2. The dry ingredients for protein drinks in plastic storage cups. Frozen fruits to add.

    3. Fresh fruits in a bowl on the table.

All take just a few minutes. I only keep junk food and treats around when family comes to visit. It is easier to avoid temptation if it isn't around.

Just made this for a snack last night -- whole grain english muffin - toasted then topped with peanut butter (crunchy in our house) then topped with thin apple slices. Really good - has that sweet - salty - crunch thing going on.

    1. gorp
    2. apple (it is true an apple a day)
    3. oatmeal

I keep junk food that I like in a cabinet that I have to stand on a ladder to get to. I keep healthy things easy to grab. Another trick I have is if I want to junk eat, espcially at night...I drink water and brush my teeth. Who wants to mess up that fresh clean feeling.

Maybe this is like what I have been thinking about lately which is some easy to prepare meals for dinner/supper that fit TMS's criteria. So mine would be a meal I make with ingredients always on hand:
    1) froz chipped beef on toasted English muffins with 5 scrambled eggs.
2)A crab meat quiche. Frozen pie crust. Filling 8 oz frozen or canned crab meat, 8 oz shredded Swiss cheese; 1/2 c Mayo, 1/2 C milk, 2 eggs; 1/3 C green onion (I usually use chives and regular onion)2 T flour, 2 eggs, mix all together, pour in pie crust, bake @ 350º for 45 min.
3)A stir fry dinner using a cup of rice cooked, whatever little bit of meat on hand and a bag of those new micro veggies (I like the broccoli/cauliflower) Stir fry meat and rice, add microwaved veggies and a tomato. This makes two meals for us.
Does anyone else have some suggestions for easy to make meals with always on hand ingredients?
Oh, to stave off hunger in a hurry? My favs, peanut butter on saltines, or cheese atop triscuits melted in microwave. Or a peeled orange or sectioned apple
