I never knew this attachment existed until I saw a TV cook using one in a demo. One thing (among others) I've always hated about my KitchenAid mixer is how often I have to stop to scrape down the bowl.

Anybody have one of these? Satisfied with it?

Nope. But I will most likely be placing an order in the near future!

I don't have one. and I don't see where it is much help.

I scrap my bowl above the level of the beaters and this would not help at all with that. At least that is what it looks like.

Where I think it would help is in the area of the beater. It's impossible to scrape the bowl there without stopping the motor and raising the head... And it's definitely necessary to scrape there, not just above the beater. Have always considered it a major design flaw that the beater doesn't touch close enough to the side of the bowl like my two Hamilton Beach mixers did.

Sherry, be sure to shop for a better price. That link shows list price. Other merchants discount it substantially.

I will shop around.

nettie, You can adjust it better if you have the lift bowl. I don't know about the lift head. I just got a new BIGGER stand mixer and DH and I did the adjustment on it. Your book tells you how. When I read about it and we worked on my old one, it did reduce the amount of scraping, but yes, I still have to stop the mixer and drop the bowl for a thorough scraping.

I did not realize there was that much difference between the lift head and lift bowl. I thought it was just the capacity. Shows how wrong I can be Smile

I have one. I still have to scrape but not as often. I got it from Meijers in MI for 29.99 + tax, I do like it, it does a fairly decent job.

I have one and I think it does a great job. I've had it for a far now. What I like BEST, however, is if I need to mix two things I have a clean beater for each!!! (For I have an extra bowl, too -- so no washing until I'm totally done!)

Ruth Ann, I'm wondering if that beater is universal and fits all the mixers, or if they're different for each size. I have a KA that's about 12 years old and works just fine, so not in the market for a new one, but a scraper/beater might be nice.

My mixer came with that attachment. You might also like this new spatula that is shaped to match the curve of a KitchenAid bowl.

Have had one since last Christmas. It works well, less scraping to do. I use it several times a week. There was an issue for a while about a knockoff brand which Kitchenaid said would void your warranty. It also did not work as well according to lots of posts online. I have one that cost $29.99 at Macy's.

They are different for different mixers, FFG. When shopping for one, use your appliance model number to find the right one.

Because of the positive feedback, looks like I'll be getting one soon. While shopping for it, I found there's a 3-quart replacement bowl available for my 4.5 quart mixer. Now THAT would be a great investment, because I often feel this large (even if it's the smallest 'standard' one) is too big for my needs.

Mine was "after market" -- (in fact, I don't think they had them when I got my KA) and made for my model of KA. I had bought one at Home Goods and thought it was for mine but it wasn't so one size does not fit all -- as the other blades are specific to each type of mixer.

Yes, I've had one for quite a while - very helpful - and I have two bowls as well - I make one batch of biscotti in each bowl.
