I might want to try the recipe you posted. I have three plastic colanders, but the holes are only about 1/8". What size should the holes be? My friend used to make it once in a while (her MIL taught her), but she uses a saucer and knife, I think. She says it's a lot of work so she hardly makes it anymore. | |||

Also check to see if there are any spaetzle videos on the internet. I watched someone on a cooking show do spaetzle from their cutting board with a knife over the pot of water. We aren't German and neither of us grew up with any home cooked German food, other than the German villages restaurants nearby. Now the whole family loves sauerbraten, sweet & sour red cabbage, spaetzle, etc. and have perfected those recipes at home. So, I invested in a spaetzle maker and love it. It's like a huge hole flat grater, with a square chamber for the dough that you slide across the grater over the simmering water. | ||||
