I made it and at the first 'taste test' I thought it was perfect; DH did too! Funny thing wassss: I had forgotten to put in chili powder!!! ...then I noticed I didn't even have any!!!!

Butttttt, I haddd put in some bloody mary mix that was really spicy (really too spicy to use in a drink...think that's why it was on sale at a discount store!)!

ANYway, it turned out to be the best ever chili Big Grin

LOL. I have to ask what brand the Bloody Mary mix is. Down here in Louisiana it is very hard to imagine a BM that is too spicy...although I did have a spicy curry in Canada that was too much for even THIS cast iron gut!!!! Those chefs from India know a thing or two about spices!!!!

Now, that's a great way to improvise a recipe. (Chili is pretty forgiving as it is.)

It is D.L. Jardine's Texas Red Snapper Bloody Mary Mix distributed from Buda, Texas. On line price is $7.50, but I bought locally at TJ Max for $3.50. It's good stuff IMHO. Has no red snapper in tho..., but does have anchovies...LOL! Big Grin

I've used in meatloaf instead of the tomato juice my recipe calls for. Really add a nice tang/spice; loveeee it.

Same happened to me, but no chili powder. Had some hot sauce in house so added about 10 drops and chili tasted delicious.
