I don't come on this board too much, so if I'm asking a duplicate question or a dumb one, I apologize!
Does anyone have a cookie recipe that tastes like the Salerno cookie "Santa's Favorites" - They used to be called "Jingles". They are an anise cookie with a very light amount of sugar sprinkle on the top. I have recipes for anise cookies, but they don't taste the same. I would like to bake my own version of the cookie. Can anyone help?

Sorry, rcsmom, I can't help you with the recipe, but you've come to the right place for help.

I just wanted you to know there's no such thing as a stupid question here. None of us knows it all and we all love to help when and where we can. Your cookie sounds good. I'll look thru my cookbooks. Have you tried googling Santa's Favorites cookie recipe?

CA Lori, yes, I tried, and I went to a few of the cooking sites too. The title "Santa's Favorites" and "Jingles" is too broad for the cooking sites, and anise cookies brings up all the wrong recipes. When I did the google search, I found out I'm not the only one looking for the recipe!!! Do you remember these cookies? They are only available to buy around Christmas time.

RCKSMOM,
I typed in 'Salerno Jingle cookies' and there were alot of websites. Don't know how original the recipes. So you might want to check it out...however you are not alone. There are plenty others that are searching also for that 'jingle cookie'
I read that Kibbler came out with 'jingle cookie'that some critiqued it on the low side.
Also..what Cal lori said is true. there are no stupid questions. I have gotten help here and thought some of my questions might've been stupid. lol But I got help and answers.
I hope I've returned that same favor.
Your in a good board here. All is here to help and learn.

I haven't been able to post recently because of computer problems and I think I have them fixed now. I came on here to see if there were any replies yet, but none. Frown
I have been searching and trying to find something similar to what the ingredients panel says. I found some that might be it; but I really would like to know if anyone has made anything that tastes like them. So I'm replying to bump this up.

OK This is the first time I have ever posted to a board, but here goes!!
For all of us out there that remember the 'original' Salerno Jingle Cookies - I have been looking for a recipe or a place to buy them as well.

Good news!! The cookie we remember is now available in some areas by the new Salerno name "Santa's Favorites". They are also available to all via the internet from www.hometownfavorites.com. I just received my order of 10 boxes - my Sons loved them for over 40 years, and we did not want to miss out once we found them! I ordered them 12/12/08 and the total order UPS delivered to my door was just over $37.50. I consider it a bargin. I must also tell you that they still taste as good as we remember. They are smaller in size than then original, but the taste is still the same.
