LurahSpice cabinet
Just finished reorganizing my spice cabinet.
Sent the duplicates to my daughter's house.
I have little cans, one set of matching glass canisters, bottles from Penzey's, and the containers from the varieties offered in the supermarket.
It was hard to decide how to put them all back on the shelves.
How do you organize your spices & herbs, etc.
I ended up with the tall bottles in alphabetical order; the little cans on another shelf in alpha order and the seeds on shelf by themselves to make it all fit.
Food colorings and flavorings moved to a new spot with the decorating sugars.
Flavored vinegars are lined up in alphabetical order now too.
I thought I was going to have a shopping list of things to buy at Penzey's but just whole star anise.

Froo FrooI invested in a few of these that I keep in a cool upper kitchen cabinet and love the ease of access and organization. The shelves tip downward for easy viewing. The cubes maximize shelf space. If you buy a couple of these cubes, one can be for savory spices and the other for sweet.

LinderhofI have a test tube rack and test tubes. Most of the little bottles fill up one test tube BTW. I have the spices arranged alphabetically in the test tube rack. I write on a little round label and stick that to the cork.
The rack is on my counter where it is handy. You can store a lot of spices in an 6 by 8 inch area.

IndexladyI had some "shallow" drawers specially built when we did our kitchen cabinetry,
BUT, one thing that REALLY helped was a tip I read a couple of weeks ago. And, I implemented it a few days ago.
I've always purchased bigger bottles because they were less expensive. Then, they don't fit into my shallow drawers. Why am I buying bottles that don't fit into their assigned space???
I got rid of the unopened bottles--gave to a Foodie Friend.
NOW I am only going to buy spice bottle sizes that fit into the assigned space.
