My niece blessed me with some fresh vegetables.
yellow crookneck squash
albino zucchini
cabbage
broccoli
a few peppers and tomatoes
A friend gave us some green tomatoes for frying.

I've never had fresh from the garden broccoli. It generally gets too hot too quickly here. We had a mild spring this year. Perfect for cooler weather plants. The broccoli was delicious!

I haven't had fresh from the garden cabbage in several years. OH MY GOODNESS! I "fried" some in a bit of bacon grease (it's really steamed) with some link sausage. Husband doesn't usually brag on cabbage, but he did this tonight.

Son does not care much for ripe tomatoes, but he's scarfing down the fried green tomato slices!

I plan on stuffing the zucchini. Smile

I may never cook meat again! Wink

Lucky you, so many great things to do with those ingredients! I tried making fried green tomatoes once because I love them, didn't come out every well though Frown

Spanish, Here's how I do my fried green tomatoes:

DS and I ordered some in a local diner for an appetizer. They served them with ranch dressing. A nice change from the ketchup I usually squirt on them (and just a little ketchup for me thank you very much).

DS got a chance to eat the FRESH broccoli tonight. He was very impressed.

I think I was born with defective taste buds. I have never liked squash, eggplant and cruciferous veggies (except raw cabbage). And, I am experimenting with eliminating nightshades to see if they have any effect on my muscle/joint pain, which leaves very few veggies to eat.

I envy your enjoyment of your fresh veggies.

Broccoli fresh from the garden tastes SOOOOOO much better than store bought and same with cabbage and just about anything else.

I've been getting maters for over 2 weeks now! What a difference in them!
I've also been pulling my winter "keeper" onions. Even they taste better! A nice thick slice of white Bermuda on a burger along with some fresh maters....YUMMMMM! And then the BLTs...YUMMMMM!

This week I'm picking wild black berries in our woods! More YUMMMMM! Most of them will be seedless black berry jelly!

It sounds like you might need to try some different ways of preparing them. Have you tried roasted or grilled?...with some spices and EVOO?
I love fried cabbage in bacon grease, but I crumble some bacon in there too! Everything tastes good with bacon! Big Grin

I recently discovered that I really like baked sweet potatoes...if I add a little brown sugar with the butter! What a difference!

Yes that is just what they are. This time of year I would rather wait for ripe tomatoes, but that is just me.

My niece brought us ONE fresh ripe tomato. I didn't get any of it. Since I had reached the point in a cold that I couldn't taste anything, I sacrificed it all to husband.

I did get a few of the little cherry tomatoes though.
