Fall staple missing...
Well, at least for me it has been a staple every year of my life. Now I cannot find it!!!

Where is the Brach's Candy Corn ?? Our stores are not carrying it. They have some cheap imitation brand.Blech!

Do I have to go through my first Fall without it? Have you seen it in your area?

You could use Brach's website to locate them.

http://www.brachs.com/where-to-buy

If you hadn't asked I would never have known that they come in more than one flavor and are made with real honey.

When you do your search click on "mellowcremes" because that is what Brach's has them listed under.

ETA a link for all the varieties and flavors they sell of candy corn.

Thank you for the reply! I had already tried that search and was not able to come up with anything!

It just seems like their candy corn has disappeared from this area. I have asked several store clerks about it and they did not appear to know what I was talking about!!!

I checked for my area and there aren't any available within a 20 miles of me. I have a contact site for them. You could call or email them. http://www.brachs.com/contact-us

I'm curious as to why they don't have them shipped to the stores with Halloween next month. The stores around here already have Christmas items available as well Thanksgiving items. The Christmas items have been available since August. Nothing says Christmas like the August heat LOL.

Do you have Walgreen's drugstores in your part of the world? Brach's candy corn and autumn mix are in their ad this week.

I bought a bag of Brach's candy corn at Target last week. They had the regular orange/yellow/white ones and another variety, also.

Thank you for all of the replies! The closest place to me is a Wegmans which is 30 miles away.

We do not have Walgreens here, but I am going to visit family this weekend in Pittsburgh, and I will look there.

Our CVS has always had candy corn out by early September. When we were in Bar Harbor recently I could not find it there either. Last year I got it there in early September.

I have not tried Target, but now I will. I have a call in to Brachs consumer office. I will see if I get a reply.

I wonder if their prices have gone up which caused the local stores to stop carrying it?

A friend in Mexico asked me to bring her candy corn for students at her school. I hate candy corn and bought some no-name store candy corn, now I'm thinking I need to get some Brachs, maybe I'll like it, but also I should give the "best impression" to kids who have never eaten it.
Walgreens, CVA and Target here I come, hope they have some.

These are one of those candies that I kept in my candy jar at a previous job. Sometimes the marshmallow peanuts. Sometimes maple nut goodies.

Candies from my childhood. Many, many times I was told, "I haven't had any of these since I was a kid!" ...as the person scooped out a handful. Wink

It's irritating when you can't get something in your area that is so popular. Mallow pumpkins are my favorite, I usually buy a bag each year. Also, at Christmas time, Archway has Cashew Nougat cookies and I have to buy 1 of those.

Yes, I guess part of it is nostalgia! It just seems so strange because the candy corn is so popular!!! It would fly off the shelves.

IMO, Brachs is the only one worth eating!!!

IMO, Brach's has a better, more buttery, flavor than the no-name brands.

I agree! I bought an off brand a few weeks ago (probably because Brach's was not available) and it was just not the same. I'll have to pay attention when I go to the drug store to see if they have the right stuff!

I was looking for a Made in USA bag of peppermint last week. Could NOT find a single American brand! They were made in either Mexico or Canada. If they'd been the soft peppermints, I would've bought the Canadian made. As it was, they were hard so I passed on both.

Sherry have you looked for candy manufactures on Americans Working website?
http://www.americansworking.com/candy.html

Stewart Company make soft peppermint candy. They are located in Georgia and you can buy it online if they don't sell it in your area. A tub of 160 candies is $8.99 -

Gee what am I thinking. Sherry See's makes all of their candy in the USA. I don't know if their peppermint twist candies are hard or soft but they do have them. They also have stores in Texas.

When I got home today I had a message on my phone from Brachs! The lady simply named all of the places in my area that carry their candy corn!!!

Wrong!!! She named CVS, Dollar General,Target, etc. I have not yet checked Target, but the others do not have it here.

I will keep you posted. Thanks for your interest and input!

UPDATE.... I decided to check CVS and Dollar General again this evening. Well, CVS had 16 oz. bags of Brachs for $3.49 !!!! They must have just gotten it in. Dollar General had none.

It appears that they made the bags larger, and then more than doubled the price. In the past I think there were 12 oz. bags that were usually sale priced at 99 cents.

I also checked for soft peppermints. They had a 20 oz. tub of Red Bird brand for $4.19. It said right on the tub that it is made in the USA.

I must stop spending so much time thinking about candy !!!

Well, I did my time looking for Brachs candy corn; first stop Target, bought two bags of regular candy corn 24oz for $2.69 each, two bags of Indian corn 24oz for $2.69 each. They had some of flavors with less ozs for same price.
Then stopped at Walgreens, they had smaller bags (16oz) on sale for $3.00. I did buy a small $1 mixed bag so I can taste these things.
CVS didn't have any.

My DH and I tasted them, their okay but not my favorite candy.

I did find this recipe for Butterfingers on Pinterest, I might use some of my candy corn for these http://www.plainchicken.com/20...e-butterfingers.html

My post is waiting on approval.

I found 11 oz. Brach's Candy Corn for $2.00 at Dollar General. That was on Aug. 30th.

Meisha, you got a much better deal!

I "think" this is the one that used to be Bob's Candies...they don't make anything (at least didn't) except peppermints...candy canes, sticks & soft mints. It is about 50 mi. from me.
Just make sure you always get the mints made in USA...I've had some made in Mexico & it tasted like they had used muddy creek water in it! YUCK, YUCK!!!!!!!! I took them back & got my money back!

Not mints but:
Funny, just checked both my Brachs and no-name Safeway candy corn, both were made in Mexico.
So, I bought them in the USA and will take them back to Mexico to share with Americans missing their old candy corn and local kids to give them a taste of "American" candy.

Also compared prices, the no-name was about the same price as Brachs.

I went to a town 10 miles away and found the Brachs at Dollar General. When I got it home I also saw that it was made in Mexico!

Thanks to everyone who helped solve this mystery!

Speaking of candy corn, my DD loves it and asked me to check at Target for special golden oreos with a candy corn filling. Went there and found out they sold out in one day and they probably won't get more. That was 2 weeks ago. YOu would think that the manufacturer would make more and market it in other stores that know how to order. I like Target but they never have enough of their specials.

Yes! Bob's makes a delicious soft peppermint. However, my go-to-store has evidently stopped carrying it. We have a Texas-based candy manufacturer - Atkinson Candy - in Lufkin. They make GOOD candy too. I love their Rainbow Coconut Bars. Their Chick-o-Sticks are very similar to the inside of a Butterfinger!

http://www.candydirect.com/brands/atkinson?brand=758

I'm sitting here noshing on some Brach's candy corn and trying to keep from crying! The front of the bag states "America's #1 Candy Corn"...the back states "Made in Mexico." sniff...Well, I guess it is part of North America, but that is not what I think of when I see "America's #1...) Thought about you Meischa - purchasing Mexican made candy to take to Mexico. Frown

I wish these American companies would straighten up and start using USA labor!!

Oh, gosh, every grocery store in my town has oodles of Brach's candy corn. No shortage here.

On another note - have you all noticed that M&Ms in mint flavor is now coming in individual little bags? And it's not even Christmas yet! I'm flabbergasted! (I like them, but didn't get any, because, seriously, I need to limit those to one little bag at Christmas time. They are one of the few chocolate candies I like, and I could get carried away if I ate them all the time. Smile
