How do you make your buttermilk sauce? I can tell by looking that there's some things different in it than my buttermilk gravy.

Not gravy but sauce -- mayonnaise, buttermilk, Dijon mustard, Green Goddess herbs and fresh basil -- all whisked together. It was PERFECT with the tomatoes! I used about 1/2 cup buttermilk, 1/4 c. mayo (more or less), 2 t. Dijon, a handful of Green Goddess herbs and about a tablespoon of minced basil -- oh, and salt and pepper.

It's an herb mix that I get at Penzeys. I used to love Green Goddess dressing and when I saw those herbs, I bought them! I'm not sure what herbs are in them but on the internet I found a recipe for GG and these are the herbs that you added to make the dressing: parsley, tarragon and chives.

Have never had fried GREEN tomaotes but my Grandmother made fried RED tomatoes. She's slice ripe SUMMER tomatoes thick and put them in bread crumbs. In cast iron pan... lots of butter till sizzling. Ya have to work quick before red tomatoes try to become sauce. One or 2 flips and cheese on top. Some of the left-over crumbs into browning butter. She used American cheese... I like provolone. Also like to blanch/peel tomatoes first and poke out a lot of the seed stuff.
