Well, count me in with the people that love it.

My brother/SIL were espousing the wonders of it last week. Next day, my old cheap coffeemaker broke. Seriously.

So, purchased the Keurig Platinum at BB&B so I could return it if I wasn't impressed--and I was prepared to be UNimpressed.

Got the Platinum model because that's what Bro/SIL have and figured I could ask them how-to questions if I got one identical.

I ALSO bought the little filter that allows you to use your own choice of beverage.

I'm not into K-cups, etc.

Well, consider me impressed.

Same coffee I used in my old coffeemaker, but... No bitterness. No bitter aftertaste. I hate coffee aftertaste. NONE!!!

So, I tried it on tea. No matter what brand, what temperature the water, how long it's steeped, it also has a bitterness that many don't detect. Even suntea has that bitterness.

Wow! I can now drink iced tea without sugar.

I can't use Nutrasweet/Aspartame or Splenda. Stevia tastes terrible. And, I'm just not into the saccharine-based sweeteners as they leave a bitter aftertaste, too.

I won't share how many points my blood sugar has dropped in the past few days just because I'm not drinking watered-down juices, a bit of sugar in my tea, etc.

Beverages are THE reason I have blood sugar issues! I can leave desserts by the wayside. Carbs are easy for me to limit portion size.

But beverages are my downfall.

If you like tea, but don't like the bitterness or bitter aftertaste, check out the machine.

BUT, do get it someplace it's easily returnable in case it doesn't impress you.

The Husband is liking it because we like a vinegar/honey electrolyte drink and it's a cinch to fix now--mix the hot water with honey, blah, blah. No dirty pan, and it's instant instead of fussing for 5 or 10 minutes.

Also, he has instant hot water for his morning oatmeal.

I'm aware of the problems, so am not expecting a gadget that will last forever. I'm just thrilled beyond measure that the beverages coming from it are soooo good that my health will feel the impact.

I'm eager to try herbal teas made in it.

With that aftermarket filter, no need to purchase the K-cups.

Thanks for the info on the filters. Those cups are pricey. We have changed to coffee or ice tea instead of soda.

So happy your happy with your Keurig. I've had ours for a few years now and I love it. Lately we have found Costco to be the cheapest for pods. If you're not aware, some owners have had trouble with the water not dispensing. If that happens, just clean out the needle area. Be sure to descale your machine too and it should last awhile.

My boss' sister gave her some Keurig coffee to give to me because she thought I had a Keurig machine. LOL I don't drink coffee. Neither does husband.

Had ours for 3 years and love it. My husband and most others prefer plain, dark-roasted coffees, but I like the flavoured ones like Vanilla, Hazelnut etc. and only drink one cup daily - so no waste. And it is handy when you need a cup of hot water for something cooking-related. Agree with putting a pin through to clean out sediment; done that and we rinse the whole unit with vinegar/water occasionally too. I personally know of several people who purchased the Keurig's and had a problem, contacted the company and the company replaced the entire unit, free-of-charge - all they had to do was pay to ship the old unit back. If you really like your coffee and frequent coffee take-out shops routinely, the cost of one K-cup works out to approximately 60 cents a cup.

Yes...love mine (a mini-brew since I the only coffee drinker here) I got for $79 at a walmart closeout. I try to find on-sale pods or find coupons for bed/bath/beyond and that helps on the pod price. I have been told that b/b/b will even take expired coupons.

We love ours too. But I think we need a new one. It keeps saying to descale it. I do and after a couple times using it I have to descale it again.
Mine has 3 different cup sizes it can make. We usually make the largest one. It now make just half a cup and stops, then you have to make like you are changing the little pod and it will ONLY allow you to finish the cup you originally started but you need another coffee cup because it will over flow. Not sure what is going on but I do love it when you only want one cup of coffee or tea. And the coffee is great.

I love mine, and yes the pods are expensive, but I bought a Keurig single cut reusable filter, haven't tried it yet as I still have pods to use first. Will let you know how it works.
