people food v dog food??
I know there are a lot of people foods that aren't good for dogs at all. But this is a bit of a reverse. When nephew was barely on all-twos and major drooler (getting more teeth)... he LOVED the BIG dog biscuits that my Dobies ate. The 2 of them stuck to him like GLUE... since he almost always had some kinda food in his hand, was easy to take from, or willing to share. Remember him being fairly covered with remnants of bbq chicken and them giving him a "pre-wash"!?!

Had neighbors who had 2 boys. One day, they were sitting at the fence with yogurt or pudding and spoons... a spoonful for me... a spoonful for you. Another time, they probably went thru a POUND of individual cheese slices that they shared with my "killer" dogs... bits of plastic wrap fluttering across my yard.

Kid's mom was not concerned about their sharing. Kids never teased my girls. Think they would have "taken a bullet" for those kids!!

I know some will thiink this is disgusting, unsanitary, WHATEVER... I call it great memories!

Aw such sweet memories of your poochies with the kids. Yes, those children survived it all too.

Our rescue is always available to lap up any mishaps in the kitchen. He also gets a can of green beans every night in his chow. Loves them.

Thanks for sharing!

Thatchairlady, The kids are still around so so sharing didn't hurt them so I too call it memories.

Memories as well in my family. To this day my DH continues to share his food - cookies, cheese, bits of leftover meat etc.--he doesn't want her to feel deprived. Just wish the dog wouldn't drool so much in anticipation of these handouts!!

Oh Mama,

LOL about the drool. We have a drooler too. I keep a towel on my lap at dinner. Doggie doesn't get any treats at table but still tries.

Hello All,
Nephew had a standard poodle as his pet when he was very young. They used to sit on the back porch steps and Sam shared everything with Fumbles. One bite for me, one bite for Fumby (hey, not such a big bite Fumby), one sip for me one sip for Fumby. When I came to stay with sister and her family, she had made roast beef for my arrival. They came to the bus station to pick me up. When we arrived at the house ready for dinner, there was Fumby with a perfectly sappy look on her face and no roast in site. She had taken it down from the counter and eaten every scrap of it. Off to the pizza parlor we went sans Fumby. She slept the whole next day.

Once a long time ago we had a neighbor who kept his bird dog in the house. That dog was at least as big as a dobie. Anyway, I went over one day to talk to the wife, our boys played together all the time. She was frying hamburgers on the stove. She turned around to say something to me & that bird dog stole a burger right out of the HOT skillet! After she chased him outside we both sat down & about died laughing! She said her hubby would have to do without his burger since it was HIS dog that stole one! Big Grin

We never shared table food with dog or people food because the vet said that was how a dog could have a bowel attack and I just thought that would be awful and my fault not the dogs. Our dog never had an accident either.
