You could use them for cupcakes, mini-loaves, cookies or jello but, myself? I just wouldn't buy them ~ I don't need any more clutter with things that aren't essential! Cool

I would use them for mini-loaves for gifts. They're as cheap as the paper bakeware and much nicer looking. Depending on how big they are, they could also hold cookies for gift giving as well.

I agree with Martha. Great for food gifts for friends and coworkers.

A friend showed me one that she received at a lunch party.
It was a little loaf pan with something baked in it. It was wrapped in a big square of colored cellophane gathered and tied with a ribbon.
Each place setting had one of these little gifties.....a table decoration and party favor in one.

I think wrapped items (i.e. candies) inside would be good, then the whole thing wrapped in cellophane. Maybe melted wax for candles?
I would probably not bake anything in them, or serve food directly in contact with the colored glaze. No doubt made in China, and you never know about the lead content.

I would assume that since it says "bakeware" that it is safe to bake in -- even if it is from China since most everything new we use is.

I wouldn't bake directly in them, either.
Remember not long ago, they sent us poison pet food and baby formula? Safety standards just aren't that important there.

They are cute...and I have made in China dishes and some ramekins...but I'm not buying their products any more if I have any other viable alternative. Most of my bakeware is Corningware and Pyrex. As I need more I generally find it in antique/junk stores and have even purchased it for the grown kids' homes.

If you do have made in China products, if you ever chip the dish or if the finish ever becomes cracked or crazed throw it away.

There's plenty of dishes and bakeware both made in the USA...

They would be cute with a different veggie in each one and arranged as a relish tray or candy assortment on a buffet table.
We don't have a Michael's where I live, lucky me in this case.
I do have a set of 3 different shaped leaves in bakeware like this in a russet color I use in the fall for veggies and candy or toppings, etc.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I will take a look at them and decide whether to purchase or not. I don't have ramekins and thought about picking up some to make those lil individual lava cakes. If not at Michaels, where can you find those?

They wouldn't be in different shapes, but my lava cakes slip out of plain ol Pyrex custard cups easier than they do my little ramekins.

When we visited Corning,NY a few months ago I was dismayed to find that some of their products are now made in China. Some things are still made in the US, but parts of the company were sold to World Kithen.

You may want to check before buying specific items.

There are inexpensive (swab on) test kits for lead in glazes and most hardware stores carry them.
Items that are really inexpensive and seasonal, often are not tested, nor should be assumed safe for food use. (Like seasonal things from the dollar stores for instance).

I go back to my original post ~ if you don't need them and have to ask for uses (even IF they are a great buy), why buy them and clutter up your home? Just wondering.... Cool
