I know this is off topic. Bought a pair of Minetonka Moccasin's. Having trouble keeping the laces tied, they are Moose Hide. Probably trip and kill myself. Got any Ideas? Thinking about Super Glueing them? Thanks Sue

Have you tried double-knotting them? That's what I do with slick laces. Cool

I remember having this problem a long, long time ago. The laces I had in some "fancy" shoes were thin and slippery or something. (I honestly don't remember if they were leather or just an imitation.) They absolutely would NOT stay tied. Anyway, someone told me to 'wax' the laces. I rubbed them well with an old used candle. It worked perfectly and solved the problem completely. Good Luck!

I'm not sure what this response means. Is it because the laces/mocs are made of animal hide?

LOL LOL I'm with you MyLife. All I know is Bullwinkle is a moose and DH said his work boots leather laces were made of cowhide. But thank you, Chuck, for the good laugh.

PS, DH never had a problem with his laces.

I have a couple pair of these moccasins and yes they do come untied. Try double knotting and then wet the knot.

Hello Sue Ml,
DH was a runner and he double tied his shoe laces and I now do. That is wrapping the shoelace twice instead of once when you are tying and pulling it tight, then I double knot mine. I did this for a gentleman in a store as his wife was chewing him out cause his moccasin laces kept untying. He did not want to double knot, but was happy when I showed him the double tying. Sadly, I do not know if they stayed tied, but you can try it.

OP stated that the moccasins were made of moose hide, hence the reference to Bullwinkle! At least, that's how I read it Smile

I learned "double tying" from a Sporting goods shoe person when buying my last pair of hiking boots.
Best trick ever, and one tug and they are untied when you want to remove them, rather than the double knot, which takes more time to untie and more length of laces used.

My boots and shoes now never come untied. Smile
