June is a totally in-door cat. Have had a few times when "stray" cats have been on deck and she FREAKS... puffs up twice normal size and makes strange yowling sounds.

So, we're comin off of Sandy here in NJ. Luckily NO serious damage in the area... FAR from the shore. My crazy/good neighbor decided to attack "dead" stalks of bamboo in corner or 4 yards. He knocked it down or hacked it down and piled up in my yard... NOT a problem... sure there will be a project in that this weekend. He was out there yesterday with their super nice, GOOFY, yellow lab and he came up on deck. He was doing that goofy dog, pouncing thing at the sliding door and June was just FROZEN. Guess it's a natural thing for cats to decide to stand their ground if they're not sure they can retreat... though not needed, since glass door between them. She puffed up but didn't YELL like with another cat... territorial?? And she's spayed so that wasn't reason for stray snooping??

My daughter kept a cat in her dorm room for two years before being busted. So Pandora had to come live with me and my two shepherd/labs. We were very worried about the first confrontation, so we confined the cat to one bedroom for several days. They were both aware of the other. In fact, they spent a lot of time with their noses pushed up against the bottom of the door. When we finally got up the courage to open the door, there was pandemonium for a few minutes while they chased each other, and then it was all over. The cat took over the situation and owned the two dogs.

So glad to know that you survived Sandy and hoping the same for many other posters in your area. As for your question? I'm glad that Junie is indoor-only and the intrusion into her space was momentary. She knows she is safe BUT, like all cats and other small critters, she also knows that she is prey ~ good for you in keeping her safe. Cool
