hi everyone, my chloe who i have had for a couple of weeks, is finally putting on a little weight. i have been attempting to feed her every 2 hours and give her glucose. saw the vet today who said reweigh her in one week. quick question....how much sleep does she require? she is 3 months old. i need to wake her up in the morning. i feed her warm chicken breast out of my hand...about 1 tablespoon. she will drink water out of my hand also. it seems like she will go back to sleep for a couple of hours. then gets up. we go outside to play and poop for about 30 minutes. attempt to feed her again. sometimes she will eat dry dog food. sometime dog food "broth" then she goes back to sleep for an hour or two. i get her up, take her for a ride in the car, play with her favorite toys....and then sleep.(not befor trying to feed) i guess i am so worried about her and not eating. my daughter who has a maltese says that it is normal for a baby to sleep alot. what do you think? also, she seems more awake and playful when we go to visit my daughter and her baby noah. do you think she might be bored? tired? upset tummy? funny, i have been an r.n. for 30 years and have NEVER gotten this uptight about a patient before. or any of my 3 children. chloe is so precious to me!!

"debbie h," I totally understand how concerned you are about Chloe given the rough beginning you have had with her but truly think she will be fine with time. And time IS what she needs.

And a LOT of that time will probably be spent sleeping with her little body trying to become strong and healthy. So how much sleep? As much as she seems to need!

Other than regular feedings and "potty" breaks, I would just let her natural instincts control. I understand you are wanting to stimulate her and play with her but there will be time enough for all of that later...

Try not to worry and keep posting how it goes!
