I have to take my Bandit in this afternoon to see an ophthalmologist. He has lost sight in one eye and need to find out what's going on. Please keep him in your prayers. Thanks

I sure will. I do want to let you know we had a blind dog (lost his sight from diabetes) but he got along just fine. We even had our deck rebuilt and during part of the time and he had to walk on just one or two boards to get to the stairs so he could get down to the ground. I wish only the best for your dog but don't panic if he has problems with both eyes. Be sure to keep us posted.

Thoughts and prayers going out to each of you ~ hope it will turn out well. What is well? Well, just staying alive is well; it's amazing just how well animals can do without vision. I know, we've had Bubba, a stray we rescued after a tragic encounter with a vehicle. His eyeball was literally hanging and his life was in jeopardy - he's been running around and full of joy ever since although he can't see. Please keep us posted how it goes for the two of you ~ don't be discouraged.... Cool

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. Bandit has a detached retina, how it happened is unknown. He will be blind in left eye. He's on anti-inflammatory for another couple of weeks. The eye itself is looking better each day. He's doing good...no pain involved! Very happy about that! He's adjusting and I'm confindent that he will do great! Once again thanks...Carolyn

Carolyn...I am sure your opthamologist may have already tested for this but My girl dog almost lost sight in both eyes at the end of 2010 due to Toxoplasmosis. It is a parasite that cats usually carry and excrete in their poop. urns out some dogs can get sick with it and the eyes are what is affected. Both of her eyes had 75% detached retinas when we caught it. Luckily the meds took care of the parasite and her retinas reattached. Her sight isn't perfect but at least not totally blind. She was almost completely blind for a week or so until the retinas started to reattach and she adjusted just fine.

Yes Debi, it was the first question he asked was if we had any cats. We have never owned any as family members are allergic. He is still on anti-inflammatories. Doing well!
