For everyone who followed Haystack's journey into this life last year - she wants to invite all of your four-legged kids (and you, too, of course) to a big party celebrating her first birthday! She is healthy and happy and can't wait to celebrate with those who read and/or responded to her story last year.
BTW, she is still just as opinionated as ever and as fool-hardy but she has taken pre-cautions for the party - has a guest list a mile long (everyone who ever posted on her thread) and wants everyone to know that it is going to be the biggest and best party ever!
Of course, everything is the biggest and best ever for Haystack, but this time it is true. So who is coming? RSVP soon - need know as she has a number of ideas - cat trees from floor to ceiling, lots of "nip" (hey, it's legal - they sell it in brand-name stores) and the food? Well, she wants everyone to know they won't go hungry!
Already received a number of "YES-RSVP responses" - Haystack wants to know how many more are coming!

So sorry to decline your lovely invitation but we cannot exceed a day's drive in a crate and the trip from Ohio might be a bit longer so you will have to party without us! Snowball and Speedy

No problem, 16 paws! None of the four-legged furballs who live here go anywhere in their carriers either except to the vet! But Haystack is a member of the "tech-generation" so this will be a "virtual" party! Shall I count Snowball and Speedy as coming in that case?

You can count us in if it's a virtual party. We'd love to come. Happy birthday, Haystack. Grey, Cissie, Dulcey,Lynx and Cheetah

irish kid, Haystack says thanks for the wishes and is so happy that Grey, Cissie, Dulcey, Lynx and Cheetah will be attending!
Haystack is getting so excited that her friends from all over the country will be sharing her birthday with her and thinks it will be her BEST birthday ever - of course, it will also be her first!

We will definitely party with you! Why we will toss a bit of catnip around and madly chase each other around our table. We have also invited our friends Rocky and Zoe to attend but since they are German Shepherds they have chosen not to join in the affair. Rocky did say that if food was involved he might get up and join in--especially if the event involves cake and ice cream! Zoe is not interested since she only likes pool parties with lots of splashing and water!

Georgia Peach, Haystack is "over the moon" that Thai will be there - think she has had a bit of a crush on him for awhile! Why not, he's gorgeous!
But he will have a bit of competition since we heard from "Mue" that Melvis will be attending as well and he's pretty handsome himself!
Haystack is getting pretty full of herself with being the first Idaho cat to have a multi-state virtual party - thinks it's going to make her "a really cool cat" (pun intended) now that she's no longer going to be a kitten!
So, debicga, any of your group on board? Hope so... and, 16paws, we've got Speedy and Snowball on the list - Haystack thinks they will be a great addition to the party. Catnip and chasing around tables is right up her area.
Haystack says it's okay about Rocky and Zoe but she'll save some cake for them if they want! Well, must go finalize the menu and sign for the delivery of wall-to-wall cat trees since UPS just arrived...

WOW! Haystack has outdone herself in the entertainment area with the cat trees: check them out - just click on the written description beneath each thumbnail photograph!
ETA: She ordered one of everything and three or four of all of the big ones! This message has been edited. Last edited by: Idaho Resident,

I think Punkin might be able to make it especially since Haystack has so generously provided such wonderful climbing toys But the puppers have decided to decline....

debicga, So glad that Punkin will be joining us - Haystack can't wait to meet him!
Glad you like the climbing toys aka cat trees; I think they are all pretty cool but sure am glad that it's just a "virtual" party! Would love to have one of them for real - maybe someday!
Okay, party is almost ready to kick off - will post back later how it goes - as it is exactly one year ago today on May 4th that DH came in and told me "You've GOT to come out and see something" that turned out to be Haystack at the haystack and started this whole journey!

Well, the fun, fur and felines have been flying here for the last several hours - ever seen 16 cats in a house filled with wall-to-wall cat trees? Don't blink!
Food was a rousing success. In addition to the usual fare, Haystack ordered salmon from Alaska, lobster from Maine, shrimp from Galveston AND fresh crab from San Francisco! Note to others - DO NOT allow your cat free access to the Internet!
The wall-to-wall cat trees provided a lot of fun as did the crowning of the new "NASCAT" champion - tri-levels of staircase racing with an incredible last minute pass!
Attendees came from here, there and everywhere: Melvis, Bubba, Grey, Snowball, Beets, Cissie, Tigger, Lynx, Tango, Speedy, Cheetah, Punkin, Alley Cat, Thai, Dulcey and, of course, HAYSTACK!
Party ended with a seven layer "Catnip Cake" designed to look like an old-fashioned haystack (Haystack does have a flair for the dramatic) and everyone went home with a sack of "nip-toys" which will help explain things when some of the participants start trying to reach under refrigerators and the like in the next few weeks and you have no idea what they are doing!
And that is all I am allowed to post about the party - Haystack's orders! I can say that everyone behaved very well except... well, I am sworn to secrecy about the identity of the one feline who got just a little carried away and started swinging from the LR ceiling fan!
Thanks everyone for joining us for a most memorable party!

Mue
Melvis got the wrong day, thought the party was Saturday But since he's here and it's night time and our people are snoozing.........time for kitties to play again
First rescue Thai from the ceiling fan Stair races and curtain climbing, yowling contest, pounce on & fling some meeces about, bat noisy toys down the stairs, check all the cupboards for food and crunchies.....stuff our faces Find the nip stash, get a little crazy........Nap time! Jump on the bed to visit the humanz, lick their nose, purrrr in their ear, round & round in circles kneading the blankies, plop down, stretch out and snooze
Happy Birthday Haystack

Glad to hear from you "Mue," but you do know that cats will play when the ***** are away? Think you are under the misconception that Melvis missed the party - NOT HARDLY - he was the life of it - along with a few others...
Better check those privacy settings, Mue, 'cause Melvis is one smart cat! And everyone loved him here - I'm not allowed to say anything further - Haystack's "rules" - but it is pretty funny knowing what I know!
Okay, all attendees might be a little zonked tommarrow - sign of a great party! But, Haystack wants EVERYONE to know that a great time was had by all! And, now, she is officially a CAT!
PS. Did Melvis tell you it was Thai on the fan - classic! Blame the innocent one (or maybe not so innocent) - it really does take two to get that fan spinning that fast! This message has been edited. Last edited by: Idaho Resident,

Ack! We missed it? Thought it was tomorrow! I told ArchieKat we had a party to attend. He was so excited. He yawned, stretched.... and went right back to sleep

40paintchips, Sorry that ArchieKat didn't make it - guarantee that he wouldn't have slept through the party had he been here!
And Mue, no worries re Melvis - he was a complete gentleman (for the most part) but that is all I am allowed to say per Haystack's "rules" - rest assured he will be invited back if Haystack has anything to say about it!
And thanks to everyone for playing along and letting your "nearest and dearest" attend the party - it wouldn't have been the same without you all!
Now that Haystack is a CAT, we expect things to settle down, be quiet and sedate - NOT HAPPENING - but we can always dream! Looking forward to hearing about adventures from all of you once all the attendees recover...

Yup, mug shot I just had this disturbing thought that my social life has reached a new low when I go online to check out a virtual birthday party for a cat on the other side of the country
I need a drink

Admit nothing, deny everything and call your attorney, Thai! Once they get your mugshot, they will blame you for everything. Don't let them take your paw prints! Decline to go down to the precinct.
Snowball and Speedy are pretty tired today. Both do recall a lot of fun and the food was great! They have inquired about the cat trees and how soon can they expect one? Told them that we would have to discuss this at a later date.
Zoe and Rocky want to know why all the fuss about turning one, after all they will be 7 on June 1st and no one has mentioned a party for them. Something to do with DQ ice cream and a fight between various dogs on a prior occasion comes to mind.

Thai kitty looks totally innocent
Hey 40kpaintchips virtual parties are fun

Looks like Mue has responded and have to say they were delicious! Hey, the two-legged participants were entitled so, enjoy, "40paintchips" (thanks "Mue" for posting) and have to laugh at the rest of your post!
This is one for the books - beats any "social life" I know of - but, then again, I have been spending my days planning a party for a kitten - make that a CAT - that will go down in history for all of us and all of you were there to witness the moment!

So that's why my furbabies are fishing under the refrigerator! Cissy is asking about the climbers. Dulcey was worn out. All he does is sleep. But a good time was had by all. They can't stop talking about the party.

Idaho Resident, I know I said the other Haystack topic was funny...but this one totally cracked me up too!
So sad that Callie and Lola missed the party. They would have TOTALLY been there!
Of course...Lola would have probably hogged the catnip and Callie...well....Callie would have been right in the middle of everything no doubt as she CAN be a little mischievous!
Looking forward to the next party!
Hugs~
