I'd say he is a 'darn cute dog'...LOL. My husband would say he is a mutt, but I don't think it matters what he is, he has decided to live with you it appears.

First a disclaimer, I really don't know about dogs (cats are my thing) but I will make a guess based on what I do know: Part terrier and chocolate labrador with a bit of pitbull thrown in - bet he got the best of each breed whatever they were - as he looks like a total sweetheart!
So, those more knowledgeble re dogs, what do you think? Fun topic....This message has been edited. Last edited by: Idaho Resident,
Its not just size. A lot is behavior. Hunting dogs have a hunting instinct that can't be stopped. Herding dogs won't be happy until everyone in their house is in the same room. My lat lab-chow would protect his household (me and my other pets)from evils like the garbage man and the UPS delivery man.

Impossible to tell from one photo of the face.... as cute as he is
What is the body like? Deep chest, slim waist? Stocky? Evenly distributed? Sloped back?
What is the temperment like. Active or relatively quiet? Does he try to tell you what to do or does he listen? Is he bold or shy?
Even knowing this there is variation within a breed but it might give a clue and knowing or having a good guess as to part of his heritage might let you know how to train him.
That all said... he certainly is a cutie. And many times mutts make the best dog.

I need to get some better pics of him, but he doesn't stay still long enough. He's a busy little dog unless you're sitting down, then he's right there with you. He reminds me a lot of a chihuahua, but there's something else mixed in there I think. He's pretty much co-dependent, doesn't know how to play, follows the Pyr mix everywhere and keeps up with him without trouble and the big dog is fast. I don't think he's ever met a stranger. As far as body type, he's solid. He's about the size of an average cat and smaller than some of ours. Hunts moles. Occasionally gives the cats a run for their money, but overall he gets along fine with them. The dropping ears are mostly what make me think he's got something else mixed in for the most part.
Here's a pic that might give a better indication of body composition.

Looking at initial pic and no info re puppers height/weight, I thought terrier mix. I saw no "jaw" to indicate a Pit. Many breeds have short hair; JRTS not so much. He's an All American (aka a MUTT) If you want scientifics, you can have his DNA tested.
If this little guy is good with your big dog and your cats, and cuddles with you, what's not to like? This message has been edited. Last edited by: tessa89,
