Good luck they are horrible this year. I use both Sentinal and Frontline and still have quite a few. I hope someone has a good suggestion.

I think it take 72 hours to work.. no washing the pet. The first treatment might not work. This happened with us then we had to do it again.. the second time it work. We also had to wash all the dogs bedding vacume the whole home. bleach anything the dogs used.
and then we got an extra flea spray for the home.

This was three years ago.. then we have not used flea treatment at all.

What we have been doing is after each bath for the dogs we use a cap full of Downey yes downey.. and pour over the dogs coat and then rise off good. you can also rub downy dryer sheets on them as well. The fleas don't like the scent. Other treatment is a laveder esential oils.. rub some on your hands and then over the pets coat. I can honestly say it has worked for us.. two small dogs and we back on to a wood lot. no flea in three years.

I use cedar mulch in my flowerbeds as a flea deterrent. I also planted lavender around my house. Both seem to keep fleas, ticks, and mosquitoes at bay.

Ask your vet if they have something other than frontline you can use. They can also guide you in what is safe to use in the yard and house.

I use Revolution on my cats and have the outside of the house sprayed for fleas and ticks.

A word of caution to all: two years ago a friend of mine bought some over the internet and one of her cats died from it. Please make sure you get your Revolution, Frontline, etc from your vet or from a well known source. Fakes of those meds are being made and could be either harmful for your pets or simply useless.

Put abput 20 drops lavender ecsential oil to a gallon of water and put in a yard sprayer and it will get rid of the fleas, if done faily often. you can keep it growing around the doors, that come in the house. This will help to keep them away from the house. I have never had fleas in my house, and I keep our pets cleaned and use lavender oil on them also. It works great. Good luck.

Fleas can easily get into your carpet also. We moved into a resale home that the previous owners had three dogs. We even had a discussion with owner about flea problems and he assured me there were none. Come summer when the house got hot everyone except DH had swollen bites on their legs and ankles. Come to find out our carpet was infested with fleas. It took two treatments from a pest control company to get rid of the problem. The funny thing, our dog that always had regular flea treatments never got one single flea.

We use Revolution for Pebbles. We haven't even had to do anything outside and have NEVER had one flea, tick or any other critters.
