Do any of you use UV lamps for your indoor cats? My cat is approx 14 -15 yrs old & is getting arthritis. I'm wondering if the type light that is used for Iguanas would be beneficial for her? Do you think it would damage her eyes? Outdoor cats are in the sun & they don't wear dark glasses so I don't see why a lamp would. Thanks for your input.

As long as your cat gets a LITTLE sunlight (windows) then you dont need UV light. Iguanas have very different metabolism than mammals, so they DO need UV.

Okay...y'all don't laugh...but what about using a little kitty heating pad? I know it feels good for my arthritis~ Wink Only thing to watch would be not to allow it to get too hot...or maybe kitty would get off of it if it did get too hot?? Too bad kitties don't like a long, hot bath! Razz

I was also thinking of vit D but I'm sure they get enough of that in their diet. I've read windows block UVB rays.

Heating pad would be a good idea if I could be sure she wouldn't get a claw in it. It might give her a little shock.

Thanks for replies.

If she needs/wants more heat she'll find a sunny window or a heat vent to sleep on. And her vitamin D needs are covered by her cat food.
