Last night I went with my DH to a very large pond so he could fish for Bass. We took Della with us. She likes to wade in the pond. She dunks her head under the water looking for frogs and fish. I noticed she was drinking the water so I stopped her. During the night she became very sick. I thought she vomited only once but as I came down this morning to check on her I noticed 5 spots, of course on the carpet. She did eat this morning but she is a little lethargic.
My question is should I still be concerned about her even though she did eat this morning. I know certain algie is deadly to dogs. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks. |

Oddly they were just talking about this on the radio this AM. Did the pond have the blue/green algea? If not and because she is eating today, just keep an eye on her. She may have swallowed a bug, tadpole or whatever.
Our dogs have always drank lake/river water and though they might have vomited now and again none ever became sick. |

You should take her in. Some algae can be very toxic, but they usually get REALLY sick. (So that is an unlikelu problem unless she got a lot worse.) Aside form algae, there are bacteria, giardia, and other things to consider.
