I have been running back and forth to the hospital a couple times a day to stay with mom. Come home exhausted and try to nap. First boomboom stats barking at things out the window. I have windows that go down to the floor, so I put a baby gate against 2 taables to keep him away from the window, because he will still peek out thru the blinds. Go back to bed. Hear big thins tipping, but no breaking , so I stay in bed. Then I hear more stuff tipping, falling and breaking, so I get up again and go downstairs. There is Boom and he has somehow gotten the elastic to a cheap matress pad I had temporarily protecting a table top, around his neck while going to the other LR window and dragged the crystal lamp, my grandmother's ceramic knick knack that I love off the table, broke my antique wash basin and top that I had as a planter on the floor. But he looked so funny! He had this look like, "Mom help me, this thing's got me around the neck and the pad is draped over his entire body like a bridal veil of Godzilla- i had to laugh. Knick knack and lamp O.K. antique basin broke, but already had cracks in it. lesson learned - put gates up at both entrances of room!

Oh, Sandlance, totally get where you are coming from - tired and exhausted from going back an forth from the hospital - and then THIS happens!

I, too, have had special things broken by unsuspecting beloved pets and have said a few choice words at the time! Censored

But then realized that they didn't know any better just as you have realized and I've actually laughed about it just as you have done - ALTHOUGH IT WASN'T FUNNY!

Bottom line, if one has pets, these things will happen. If the choice is to have a house where "no accidents" happen but, also, no four-legged critters reside, I vote for the first alternative...

Yes, do everything you can - including the gates to hopefully lessen damage in the future - and know you are doing the best you can with a little help from four-legged friends to get you through a difficult time. Please tell your Mom that many good thoughts are going out to her and keep BoomBoom close by. I'm sure he will do his best to offer comfort and say that he is SORRY for the mix-up. Cool

June (cat) once got tangle up in a brown paper bag... one with nice heavy paper handles... like from Wegman's or Trader J's. All I heard was some rattling around and then saw a brown BLUR fly by?? Found most of the bag in livingroom... she was NO where to be found? Found the handle in my bedroom closet where she was cowering in the corner. Took her a little while to get brave enough to come out... without her collar? NEVER found it!?! Always make sure all pplastic bags are well out of her reach.

Did actually witness this, but THINK this is what happened with Rotties and one of those round, metal, mesh-top patio tables... legs like 2 X's that interlock. Heard this LOUD commotion going on outside and went to investigate. The TOP of the table was lying on the deck, along with one part of the legs?? One of the dogs was in a corner of the yard with the OTHER half of the legs somehow hooked in her COLLAR... TERRIFIED! As I went to rescue her, she started toward me like a bull with "horns". Got rid of that table for an alternative type.

Don't think it's possible to 100% pet-proof, or childproof, a home... just gotta do your best!?!

Awwe that sounds too cute and funny. Even though he broke something...sorry, but I can imagine the look on his face.

My two shepherds just KNOW when they've done something wrong...they try to hide their faces.
