Too cute, Daphne! It's happened a few times here ~ most recently with our "foster-now-adopted Maine Coons" ~ whom we inherited from our niece. DH found a stuffed animal - calico cat with long hair just like her (she's a Maine Coon) but we let niece take it with her after she spent Christmas here a couple of years ago and was so sorrowful to leave them behind once again...
But, have to say, NOTHING beats the stand-up cardboard cut-out that my Mom bought for Monkey some 30 years ago ~ Monkey will always be my forever-special cat ~ adopted at less than 4 weeks and I hid her in my "no-pets" apartment. I know, my bad but she adopted the cut-out as a playmate ~ guess she didn't realize that it read, "Whatever it is that someone did that you didn't want done, I didn't do it!"
