I just wanted to let everyone know that we finally found a chicken jerky that is made in America... our poor dog got so sick from the ones made in China! We have been reading about it everywhere online. Anyway, he has recovered but our vet told us about Kona's Chips--you can buy them online and they are all chicken breast--check it out at konaschips.com There is a lot of interesting info on the site too!
To kmouse, you asked what brand made our pooch sick--it was Dogswell, I believe. Very deceptively packaged to hide the fact that the chicken comes from China--looks like the American company produced it, but in very very small letters you can see "Made in China" at the bottom on the back. Glad you are on to Kona's Chips. Good luck!
kmouse, I looked up the Mellow Mutt brand and it looks like it might be made by Dogswell, which is the one that made ours sick. I'll bet if you look on the back you will see the tiny dreaded 3 words (made in China). Truly, as far as we know, we have only found the Kona's Chips that are made in America. I hope your pooch is okay!
SheChi, Awesome! I am so glad Kona's Chips worked for you! Our dog loves them too! And, I think you get more chips in the bag than the Dogswell for the same price--you never know what they put in the chips from China to make them heavier! Yikes!
PommyMom, Not mine, but I rarely give them commercial "treats" including chicken jerky. A friend's Lab loves them and has experienced no problems (maybe lucky); IMHO most likely because he only gets one per day

Tessa, Whatever toxins are in the chicken jerky from China have affected the small dogs the most such as chihuahuas, poms, poodles, etc. However, I did read about an Italian Greyhound whose seizures were traced to these treats. So, being a Lab, he might escape harm, but I still think his mother or father should look for a better safer alternative!
