It's been about a year since I mentioned our yellow rogue cat during another discussion. I talked about how he just did not fit in with our herd. He continued to be all male long after he was neutered. Picking fights, spraying every inch of the house to the point that I wouldn't let him come inside. He was a loner for sure. the inside cats hated him. It was a hissing and growling disaster. Never in my life have I had a male cat who's body refused to accept that there was no more gas in the engine. Well, almost a year to the day of his rescue and neuter, his head caught up with his tail and all the male behaviors suddenly stopped. Like a switch was turned off. The inside cats accepted him. He stopped spraying and looking for trouble. Now they all live happily. They play and sleep together. It's the most amazing thing I've ever seen.
While all the troubles were going on, I tried my best to rehome him, but nobody wanted him. We rescued him and had a commitment to him, so he lived on his own terms and we gave in to it. He remained skin and bones while eating like a horse. Then overnight he became a member of the family. He no longer eats constantly and he's gaining weight. He eats along side the others. I feel like I'm witness to a miracle everyday. Now I can't imagine not having him.
That's him with his at one time mortal enemy, Rambo.

Sandra, So happy to see a post from you ~ it's been a long time ~ and to read the wonderful update! Big Grin

Yes, sometimes it seems impossible to integrate everyone into a "happy-ever after scenario" (and it's all too easy to just give up) and then they surprise us! Myself, I think it might be that they have been disappointed too many times over the years to be able to place their trust in anyone until that person proves themselves.

You passed the test and he is your reward! A more faithful companion and friend will be difficult to find. YOU DID GOOD, SANDRA!

IR, thanks for the atta girl, but I didn't do anything but let him live on his own terms. He was allowed in one room and chose to enter and exit through the window! He took all his meals outside. so, we accepted him and let him be. He gradually stopped being a jerk and started getting along. I don't know what happened. He looks healthier and is much calmer. He still likes to be outside more than inside, but that's ok.

Glad you're back, Sandra. And I'm glad that your cats are getting along now. The two cats are beautiful. The orange one looks just like one of mine, Lynx. He's the trouble maker at my house. I'm glad to know there is hope for my 4 boys. Right now, the 2 inside boys fight all the time. The two boys outside are both neutered, and Grey the oldest swats at Cheetah sometimes but they get along famously. I never have to worry about them. Maybe someday, the one's inside will surprise me and start getting along. Should I just leave them alone and let them work out their differences? Right now when they start fighting, I yell at them. Most of the time they'll stop fighting, and just growl at each other. But I hate yelling at them. There's got to be some other way. But anyway, glad your little guys are getting along so well.
