Hi All,
My little Charlie's front right paw is puffy and swollen in between his pads. I have no idea what happened, he is such an indoor dog.
I am wondering if got bit by a vole, since that is about the only critter he can catch.

Anyway ~ I am going to soak his paw in a warm bath... what else can I do? I plan on taking him to the Vet Monday am. I think I should wrap it since he is licking it a lot. Confused

Can you look to be sure there's not a splinter or thorn in there? I'm not sure I'd wrap it.

I agree with sis. Wrapping his paw may cause more pain if the swelling is from a bite. Not only that he may try chewing off the wrap and that could cause intestinal issues. I would check between the nails to make sure something is not lodged in the paw pad first. If he is biting and licking it because it itching from a bite or something similar maybe a benedryl. Also is he favoring that leg at all?

Good luck

I turn doxies beds around weekly as spiders do crawl in - not often. But I hate'm.

Hopefully, it will improve. Keep us posted.

Ok~
Vet thinks there is a thorn or something sharp in his paw. She gave him 2 weeks/antibiotics.
She thinks it will works it way out.
She also recommended duct taping a baby bootie to his paw to keep him from licking. And soaking in Epsom salt bath twice/day for a week.

Posting this in hopes it might help someone else in the future Wink
