a 6 mos old male beagle. What is going on? I told my daughter, they are her dogs, that I thought it was the older male trying to let the younger male know that he is the leader of the pack. Any ideas or help for my daughter please.
Thanks NY Cousin |

Are both dogs neutered?

I agree with you. Mounting is almost always related to shows of dominance rather than an attempt at sex. (Sorry can I use that word??)Point is, outside of an intact male and in heat female meeting, the mounting has to do with pushing their weight around.

Ditto! mounting is a dominance thing, regardless of size or gender.
In general, Beagles are happy pack animals; many Labs remain goofy teens until 3-4 YO Frequently interactions never escalate into blood letting, hopefully your boys will work it out without your intervention This message has been edited. Last edited by: tessa89, |

I thought it was probably a dominance thing as well. Thanks.
