Yesterday we got our new puppy, a wire haired fox terrier. He is ten weeks old. My ten year old son is in heaven.
The breeder was feeding them Purina Exclusive puppy food, chicken and rice, that he bought at the local Ace hardware store. The town that he lives in is very rural. We are taking Jake the puppy to the vet today but I wanted to ask everyone's opinion on what puppy food should I be feeding him? Is the Purina Exclusive the best? His bowel movements seem to be a little loose/mushy. Sorry if that is to much info. Here is a pic of Jake. He has been the best puppy. Last night he slept until 3am, got up, went potty and then slept until 6am. He has not had one accident inside. My son has already taught him to fetch and bring a ball back and he follows us around outside and will stay when we tell him to. He is also going to be very spoiled as you can tell from the picture!!!!!! |

Laura,
Congrats on your new baby.....he is ADORABLE! It sounds like ya'll are really enjoying him. Your son looks so happy & content, as does the pup. We've always had great luck just feeding our puppies purina puppy chow. Our lab mix is 18 months old & we still have her on it. She does really well. I would ask your vets opinion though. Enjoy the new baby, he's precious! |

How cute is that?!
Congratulations on your new addition. As far as food, I have fed Honey the Merrick brand dog food, its very good quality. Remember that meats are supposed to be the first ingredients listed, no corn or other fillers and definitely no meat by-products. Wellness and Halo are also good options. ~The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated - Mahatma Gandhi~ |

We went to the vet yesterday and Jake had to get two shots. He was not very happy. The vet suggested Eukenuba (sp?). The first ingredient is chicken. I bought some and have mixed it with his original food. He seems to like it.
The pieces are bigger so I am wondering if I should add a little water to make it a little mushy???? Thanks |
