Does anyone here watch the new show? I think that the show is awesome. I leared much about different dog breeds.

Just don't rely on their information being correct. I watched the one about Jack Russell terriers and most of what they said was wrong.

suez, unfortunately some folks live by these shows, and think the info provided is irrefutable. I do not watch them at all since I see many questionable things on them

I can't watch them....One of my dogs gets very upset if he hears dogs on the TV. He thinks they are in the house but he gets especially worried if they sound at all as tho they are being hurt. Sometimes it is hard to even watch regular programming if there is a dog barking in the background. And of course when he gets up barking or wondering the other 3 have to join in Big Grin Eek

Same here Debi. I know there are people that leave Animal Planet on the TV during the day while they're at work. I guess they think the pets will like it? Confused But the sounds the animals make on those shows are confusing and upsetting. We leave the golf channel on. I guess DH thinks Aslan will learn to play. Roll Eyes

I agree totally that their info is not always correct. I have a Rhodesian Ridgeback and looked forward to seeing them on the channel. When they recommended only athletic people with only older children, I laughed. My DH and I are not athletic. We let the Rhodie out and he runs alittle around the yard, but bottom line he is a hound and can break world records on sleeping. I got a Rhodie in the first place because my family had them when we were growing up. When we would all sit talking in the backyard, the Rhodies would "fetch" wayward toddlers, picking them up by their diapers and carrying them back to where the Rhodie felt they would be safe.

IMHO in general it educates ppl who don't or won't educate themselves about "breed" traits.
Growing up we had Labs & big mutts; as an adult I chose large breeds. Hands down, Rhodesians are incredible family dogs! so are Rotties & other herding breeds, in the right family. RR's & Rottie's are incredibly clean, somewhat stubborn, intelligent independent thinkers that require early socialization and basic training same as a lap dog.
That said, I hope this show continues to urge more folk to research before buying a puppy & ignoring it after the novelty wears off.
If not ready to commit, breed specific rescue orgs, SPCA & many local shelters offer a foster program

I got myself some ear phones so as not to disurb my neighbors. That would help you. The dogs would not hear a thing.
