I've been feeding my indoor cat the same canned food, Fancy Feast, for some time, one in the morning and one at night. He also eats Nutro dry food, and absolutely no table food. Lately his stool has been really loose, and he gets it on his paws covering it up, and then proceeds to track it all over the carpet. What can be causing this? He is perfectly healthy.

Could be he has a virus tracked in on your shoes? If it continues more than a day or so, I'd go to the vet, they can dehydrate very quickly. Make sure he's got plenty of water available. Does he seem to feel fine otherwise?

A very common cause for cats to have diarhea is having a case of the worms. Indoor cats are still vunerable to worms, especially if they have been in contact with fleas. If this continues, a call to the vet is going to be needed. Cats dehydrate very easily, and IV fluids may need to be given. Increase her fluids by adding a couple of teaspoons full of water into her canned food. Leave out fresh water.

"english rose," I agree with the above two posters about an intestinal "bug" of some sort. If it continues more than another day or two, I would definately take him to the vet because de-hydration can quickly become a serious concern.

Also, while it may seem sort of "eech," you should try to get a fecal sample or two before he buries it, put them in separate Cling Wraps and take them to the vet so they can analyze them to see if they can determine exactly what is going on.

Good luck; post back how it goes...

I don't have an idea what could cause this, but you can give your pet Libby's Pumkin (not pie filling) 1 teaspoon 3x/day. It will bring the necessary fiber into the diet and will stop the lose stool.
