I'm sure I'm not the only one with Christmas photos of my pet.
Here's my Jovi under our tree.
She's a pretty girl!
ETA: Very odd. I didn't remove the photos from photobucket. I just went in and "repasted" them and they're showing again. I have no clue why they went away. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Whitdobe,

Awwwwww, what happened to the pictures? My avatar is the Christmas picture of our girls from last year. I wasn't able to take a new one this year, both my digital camera and my cell phone are out of commission.

GypsyDancer, I've been meaning to comment on your beautiful girls for a long time now. Labs have always been my favorite breed. We are without any at this time but one day I want to find another one. We have owned the chocolates and the blacks but never a yellow. Your chocolate looks so much like my CoCo that we had for 12 wonderful years. I do miss her. Merry Christmas!

Thank you so much, Georgia Peach! I have to agree with you, I absolutely LOVE Labs! Ever since we've had our girls, Labs have become my favorite breed too. So gentle and loving and just GOOD dogs! Our Lab mix is named Pebbles and our Chocolate Lab is Sugar. We just love them to pieces and they are totally rotten! Merry Christmas to you too! This message has been edited. I'm sure you miss yours. I can't even think about when that day comes with these 2. Next time you'll have to get you a yellow one!

Thank you Whitdobe and I'm so glad your pictures came up, I was really wanting to see them! Jovi is such a beautiful girl and I'm always amazed to see how good she is when having her picture taken. Love her Christmas stocking and your tree is gorgeous......and as I said, Jovi is always beautiful! Merry Christmas to you and yours! Oh, forgot to mention her beautiful Christmas bow too, she looks so pretty and Christmasy! This message has been edited. Last edited by: GypsyDancer52,

Whitdobe, As usual you have some beautiful photographs of Jovi ~ thank you for sharing them and starting this thread! Once again, may I ask exactly what your new camera is? Make, model, number or whatever?
I know you told me once but I didn't write it down - I promise I will this time. I've always used a "real" 35mm Canon that it probably 30 years old but the digital Sony I bought is basically useless as my cats move too fast and nearly all photos are blurred.
I know just how fast Jovi can move and yet all of your photographs are crystal clear and sharp so that's the camera for me ~ when I decide to buy a new one. Thanks!
GypsyDancer, It's always great to see photographs of Pebbles and Sugar ~ will Santa be filling their stockings this year?
Georgia Peach, You mean Thai won't sit still wearing a Santa hat? Both Haystack and I would love to see that....

Idaho, I've tried to take a good picture since Whitdobe posted this thread! I must have taken 50 pics. No cooperation whatsoever.

Hi Idaho! I have a Canon T1i digital SLR. It's about the least expensive DSLR that you can get. Still a bit pricey but I really wanted to be able to take action shots and DSLRs are really the only cameras that can do that.
Georgia Peach, my dogs have always gotten a lot of practice doing "sitting pretty for a treat". Try practicing without the camera at first. Just work to get your dog to sit and wait for you to give it a treat. Once he understands that a treat will be coming if they wait, it usually gets easier. It helps if you have someone to do the treats while you take photos but, once a dog gets the hang of it they'll be eager for photo time because it means treats will be coming. Jovi positively "dances" with excitement when I take my camera out.

Whitdobe, Thai is a cat.
I am going to try the treats with my dog. She's very smart but I don't work with her enough. Our neighbor trains the border collies and when we told him we had purchased a heeler he said they were very hardheaded. He was right.
Here's Thai.

Thank you GypsyDancer. She has a worried look on her face. I made her lay down to take a picture and I guess she thought she was in trouble. The only way I could make her perk her ears was to say a word we use when we want her to gather up the cows. Plus, she is scared of the cat Merry Christmas.

Conrad - I've never seen such a dignified look on a dog - let alone a dog in a silly hat. Just LOVE that photo
Georgia - We think Pommy is about 5 and Lazy is ????? maybe 6-8 ????? they are shelter dogs, so we go with what we were told.

One of these years I might be able to get my dogs to settle down long enough to get a Christmas picture Conrad I LOVE your photo. I can not even imagine getting one of my dogs to sit long enough with antlers on no less 2 of them together.
As usual Jovi looks fabulous. She is so photogenic.
Peach...I just love the pic of Thai and Harley. My big black dog Cassidy is none too fond of the cat and whenever Punkin gets close there will be a low rumble and a scootching away at the same time. Makes me laugh that my 85# dog is afraid of my 10# cat.

Conrad, are your dogs Irish Setters? I just love that picture. The expression on their faces is so amusing.
Debi, I've seen a picture of Punkin but not Cassidy. An 85 lb. dog is a BIG dog. What breed of dog is he/she? I'm thinking a Lab or Rottweiler?
Love the pictures everyone.

Georgia Peach, They are both "senior" Golden Retrievers. More Red than blond, the reddish ones tend to be better hunting dogs and a bit smaller.
Buddy holds his head up so high to balance the hat/glasses so they don't slip off. I trained them early to balance treats on their heads, so glasses, hats are no big deal. This message has been edited. Last edited by: conrad,

I tried to post a picture, but it was too big. I tried to make it smaller, but that didn't work either. I don't have Paint on my computer, (I'm using my work computer). I even put the picture in Word, reduced it and tried to copy and paste it, but I couldn't. How do I make the picture smaller so I can post it? Thanks

If you have microsoft office under accessories or tools if you have 2010 is "picture manager" Go to "edit Pictures" and do a "resize" I resize to "small web" size and it usually is good. You might need to make it a tad smaller tho. I think I sometimes have to do the small web size and then reduce it to 98%.

Nice looking pups! German shepherds are very special, if you have ever known one personally, very loyal and alert. We had one for a year in foster care, but boy she sure shed in the spring! Gretta was silver marked (like Bullet). Those are more rare than the white, which I used to see a lot more of than now. (the white must be much easier to spot in a dark backyard?)

Thanks! The Black and tan is 3-1/2 and the white is now 1-1/2. They get along fabulously.
Yep, it's a lot easier to spot anything on the white one. This message has been edited. Last edited by: zone9alady,
