I'm not sure if this the right place to post, but I thought I'd try. We had a small water leak a few weeks ago when our house was being worked it. It was where the porch met the house. Since then, it has been sealed so the water problem is gone. I looked in the drop ceiling today to see how bad it was and I about fell off the ladder when I found a snake skin. Yep, there is a snake somewhere in my house, unless it found it's way out. Besides screaming and running upstairs, what do I do? Is there a way to set a trap of some sort to catch it? I could call an exterminator, but I know that will be expensive. Thanks in advance.

I had a snake in my basement, but I saw the actual snake (it was on my son's bed). I put a shirt over its head and grabbed it by the head and the body and took it outside.

Other than that I don't have any advice! Hope you catch it soon though.

that skin could have been there for years...take a powder, I doubt it's any kind of snake that will hurt you, It will avoid you at all costs if it's even in there....LOL

Have to agree that most snakes want to avoid us even more than we want to avoid them! Just a skin? It's probably long gone; but you can watch for a while if it makes you feel better!

Myself, I wouldn't give it another thought. Check the basement out throughly; if you DO find a snake, call Wildlife State employees or private rescue group for assistance.

They will come and remove it from your place and all will be well; highly doubt the snake is still there. They usually move on after shedding their skins; if still there, it's ok!

Speaking as one who is a bit paranoid about snakes; I feel for you. Have someone come over and examine the entire basement. You will feel much better! Bet the snake is gone; too bad, as you now will have to deal with all those mice!
