Oregon and Washington Board Members (and anyone else who will be in the Portland area), we will have our first get together on January 19, 2013. We will be meeting for lunch at the Olive Garden at Mall 205 in Portland, Oregon at 11:30am. The address for the Olive Garden is 9830 SE Washington St., Portland, OR, 97216. Their phone number is 503-258-0763. They are located just off I-205.
We will do a meet a greet - get to know each other, find out how we started quilting, how we chose our board names, how we found the board, our favorite type of quilting, etc. etc. etc. After lunch you are welcome to come to my home for show and tell. I live near the Olive Garden, or if its easier/more comfortable, we can stay at the restaurant.
On top of getting to know each other better, we will be discussing getting together for the upcoming Sew Expo as well as talking about a mini retreat for those in our area. Think about when you would like to do the retreat (remember that some of us are going to the COF retreat in June), where you would like the retreat to be and what you would like to do at the retreat. Do you want organized activities or just time to sew and chat?
So, who is coming for lunch?

I have a mtg in Olympia all day the 19th. Would love to get together, Can you schedule in Central WA or northeast Oregon? How often do you plan these, sorry for questions, but I'm not here so much. I'm on facebook more. Thanks michele/motqltr
motqltr - this is our first get together. We will be moving them around so the same people don't have to do all the driving each time. I will send you a pm.

This sounds like fun but I am not sure if able to come. Of course the weather plays a good deal into this picture. It was very icy at my house this morning.
What cities do you ladies live in or near in Oregon?
I am west of Eugene towards the coast. A car pool would be fun.
Lg56 - It's always tricking to travel in the winter. I hope this will just be the first of several get togethers. I live in Milwaukie - just south of Portland.

Lg56 - I am in Portland and there is one other board member near Portland. Some of the ladies are coming down from Northern Washington. We are pretty spread out in this area. Do you usually go to the Sisters quilt show?

Well ratz, I spoke too soon. DH has an appt on Saturday and we've waited for it for a month, so can't change it. I won't be able to come to Portland, BUT I will be at the Expo! Have fun y'all!
Aww Crazy that's too bad, but I understand about having to wait for those appointments!
It sounds like there will be between four and six of us for Saturday. San and Lg56 any better idea as to if you will make it or not? We hope so!!
For those of you ladies who can't make it, if you have any ideas for a retreat later in the year, let me know by PM so we can discuss it at the lunch. Location? Timing? Activities? etc, etc.

San - glad you can come. I thought the day old buckets were $5 - I will have to ask my son. He and his friends buy them late at night and walk around downtown handing them out.
Handie Ann - I will be there. I will be wearing a bright yellow scarf.
KBlue - 11:30.
Pegsami - if you don't feel like driving I don't mind coming to get you before I meet up with Handie Ann.
They do not take reservations for small groups so who ever gets there first get a table for 'Circle of Friends' and let them know there are a total of five coming.
See you all tomorrow. This message has been edited. Last edited by: headielamar,

Thanks, Lisa, but if tomorrow is anything like today, I'll be fine. I don't have to leave here until 10:45 at the earliest and I've been keeping my car in the garage so I won't have to scrape ice!!See you all tomorrow!!

Sorry no pictures but San, Handie Ann, Kblue, Pegsami and I had a good time. Good food, good company and gorgeous quilts, plus a stop at Fabric Depot. What more could you ask for!!

After lunch and a stop at fabric Depot we went to Pegsami's place and she gave us a small trunk show of some of her quilts. Boy were they great. I took my camera with me and was having so much fun that I forgot to get it out and take any pictures. I will try to remember it for March when we get together for the Sewing Expo.

I had a wonderful time! It was so much fun to start putting faces to board friends. Saw some beautiful black and white quilts that have inspired me. Yes, something else on my wish list! I'm looking forward to building a closer bond to this group of ladies and to everyone else at the COF retreat.

Sounds like you had a great time Sat. I love the Olive garden. I've always wanted to go to the Fabric Depot, bet it was loads of fun. Plus a quilt trunk show. Love it.
This is a FYI If any of you Ladies used a credit card at Fabric Depot Saturday watch your account. I was just informed by my bank that my card has been hacked again. The 2nd time in 4 months. Each time I had made a cc purched at FD. they may have been hacked and numbers are being swipped or we may have been hacked. I intend to call FD tomorrow and let them know so they can check their computers. The problem may not be with them but some where else. Mary

I am so sorry to hear about that Mary. I have never had a problem with my cc while shopping at Fabric Depot. I just checked with my bank and I am ok so far.

What a darn shame, Mary!! I have been paying cash most places for just that reason---especially at places that take your card out of one's sight and use it. Hope everything turns out all right for you---it was a very "fun" day and I hope this didn't spoil it for you!!
