• • • Welcome to the Seventh Annual Scraps to Treasures Challenge QUILT SHOW. For those of you new to the boards, let me tell you a little bit about our challenge. Seven years ago, actually it was probably eight when I first saw the Scrap Bag Challenge on Simply Quilts. The one that really caught my eye was Tom Russell's Quilt. That's when I came up with this idea to challenge my friends here. In order to participate, the challengers send in a pair of six inch squares with two different values for each challenger. Think of it like an ABC swap. Then with the help of the Madison Ladies, all the squares are sorted so each challenger has exactly the same fabrics to start with. Let's not forget to thank the Madison Ladies, because without their help, I'm not sure I'd still be doing this challenge. Thank you QuiltHappyMaryWI, LindaWI and KarenB. And a special thank you to CQWannabe for driving all the way up from Illinois to help out this year too. Once the squares are delivered, all they have to do is create a quilt at least 36x48". They can use a pattern or do whatever they want. Some additional fabrics are allowed, but they must use a minimum 2" square from each of the fabrics swapped. It still amazes me how each can take the same set of fabrics (plus a few extras) and turn them into something so beautiful and yet, so different from each other. These ladies are so creative and talented. I would like to thank each and every one for taking the time and passion to participate. This year we have 30 beautiful quilts for you to view and enjoy. The variety and workmanship is SUPERB! Each quilt is so unique and breathtaking. And the best part is, all of these quilts will be donated to charity. Each Quilt Maker will choose which organization their quilt will benefit. Great job Ladies and THANK YOU! Please take advantage of all the features available for viewing. I recommend viewing them as a whole collection before you begin. First, if the album information is on the right hand side, use the little arrow to turn it off. Then there is a slider on the top right to increase the size of the thumbnails. Use it to see all the quilts on the screen as big as possible. Make sure your browser fills your monitor. Next, view them in slideshow mode and hit your F11 key for your full viewing pleasure. After the slideshow is done just hit the F11 key again. Then you can look at each quilt individually. There is also a magnifier available. You'll be able to zoom in and really see them up close and personal. Once you have viewed the quilts, please come back and let us know what you think. You may also attach a comment to the individual quilts. I'm sure the Quilt Makers would love to see your praises and feedback. And don't forget about the Quilt Maker Contest (to be posted later today). Now onto the QUILT SHOW. .This message has been edited. • • • One more thing, you can adjust the speed of the slideshow, in case it's going too fast for you. You can also turn off the captions, so they don't interfere with seeing the whole quilt. You're welcome Rondi. I didn't expect you to be up at this hour. I was hoping to post it closer to sunrise, but I need to get to bed. Enjoy the show everyone! ▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲ Life without quilting is not an option! • • • • • MY Photos • • • • • • ENJOY! OH MY! Knew from the peeks this was going to be a good show - but these exceeded my expectations. Going to be very hard this year to pick winners. Glad we have a few weeks to review and make choices. Jean, thanks again for all your hard work in organizing this great challenge.
wow. This year people really outdid themselves. What a great show! *********************************** “May God give you...For every storm a rainbow, for every tear a smile, for every care a promise and a blessing in each trial. Amazing talent!! my philosophy: there are no real mistakes in quilting, just design opportunities!!
Beautiful show, awesome quilts, great show of talent! Congratulations to all who participated, you really, really rose to the occasion.
Wow! I'm going to have to revisit and revisit these. They are wonderful. What a talented group of creative artists. How am I ever going to narrow this down to just three? No Way!
Think we also need Honorable mention spaces!!! How do you just pick 9???? Chris
Awesome quilts, everyone! Looking forward to looking at them more in detail very soon.
I'm going to have to register my 2 cats as board members just so I can have 30 votes! I'm truly in awe of the talent of these quilters. Ellen "Wishing you sunshine and blessings"

Hmmmm, now the tough part. Y'all just thought making the quilts was tough. It's choosing winners. Jean, another terrific job on the challenge. I think a lot of people outdid themselves this time. I say that every year. "Never be afraid to try anything new. Remember, amateurs built the Ark. Professionals built the Titanic." Unknown.

Boy, this is hard. What's more important to the quilter - Viewer's Favorite - or Best Design?? I need to put quilts in more than one category! Um... which way to go...This message has been edited. Congratulations to all. What a nice bunch of quilts. Jean and friends, thanks so much for all you put in to this challenge. I know I can't begin to imagine how much work and organization needs to be done to make this all work for us.

Oh my goodness Jean they are fabulous. I am beside myself in all. They are pretty good. I can't help but think I may have to continue this insanity again next year.Good Luck girls!! J Lu

• • • I was very surprise to see there were hardly any views to this thread. I decided to change the name so everyone will come and see what's going on. I would hate for you all to create these wonderful pieces and no one gets to see them. So, be sure to let all your friends know. We're going to need all the votes we can get to determine the winners. I'm so very glad I don't have to make these choices. J Lu, I truly hope you and all the newbies will play again next year. Did you find that peek you were talking about? And, do you still think it's going to take top prize? Now I am off to start the Quilt Maker Contest before Lisa has an episode. ▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲ Life without quilting is not an option! • • • • • MY Photos • • • • • • ENJOY! Well, I've gone thru them twice. The styles are so different I'm finding difficult to choose three favorites especially in the best design category. Actually I don't even know which three I'd choose as my personal favorites. I WILL go back and look some more.
oh my. What a gorgeous show! Just amazing how you can put pieces of fabric together, make a pattern and weave it altogether so beautifully! Boy, this is going to take a lot of views to decide. Thank you for all your work, Jean!!! "It's bad to supress laughter. It goes back down and spreads to your hips."

• • • The votes have started coming in. Please remember, you can only list a quilt once on your ballot. And please don't forget the Write-In category with your reason. If you are having trouble determining which category for the quilts, then you can just send me a list of your Top Ten choices. ▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲▼▲ Life without quilting is not an option! • • • • • MY Photos • • • • • • ENJOY!
